"So what else happened out there?" Callie asked as she sat at the table.
"We really didn't do much talking. He told me he was going to call me but I don't think I am going to ever answer."
"What? Why?"
"Because he's getting married and I'm pretty sure I won't be able to stop loving or sleeping with him. I have to let him go and let him live his life."
"I guess that's smart, you know yourself."
"Mmm-hmm and he is my weakness. It didn't even take up five minutes before his shirt was off." Miranda replied sighing.
Elena handed Miranda a tissue and she looked at her mother questionably. "Wipe the corners of your mouth, baby. Lipstick is smudged."
Miranda gasped and did like her mother asked as Callie giggled.
One month passed.
Miranda walked down the hall. It was her first day back at work and she was excited, she missed being a surgeon and practicing medicine. She talked to her therapist once a week for a month while her leg healed and she did have some trauma from the plane crash. She talked with her to make sure that she didn't just trauma bond herself to Ben and if she truly loved him.
And it was true, she loved him deeply and they would always have a special connection because of that situation. Crazy enough she missed Ben more than she missed surgery.
He called and texted her but she went with her first mind and did not respond. She couldn't handle nor sit on the side and watch him get married. It was too much.
"Bailey, were you scrubbing in on my hemicolectomy?" Richard asked catching her in the hall.
"No, I have my own gastrectomy scheduled. You can't shadow me, Webber. I was cleared and I am fine," Miranda stressed.
"I know, I know," he returned raising his hands in surrender while walking away.
Miranda completed her first shift back. She got caught up on all her patients but still had a load of paperwork to do, some of which she was taking home.
After getting home and making dinner, something she really took for granted. Every time she opened her fridge or cut the heat on she was just grateful and felt blessed.
Miranda drank a glass of wine as she sat on her bed. She was going to take a bath and was waiting for the tub to fill up.
She looked over at the camera on her nightstand and grabbed it, taking the memory card out. She found her laptop and placed the card inside.
Walking into her bathroom she cut the water off followed by taking her clothes off. Miranda sat her wine on the side of the tub. She sat her computer on her bathtub tray before getting inside the water.
Miranda clicked through the pictures slowly as she took in each one. Many reporters wanted to know their story and looking at these pictures, she actually might send some of these off. The pictures of the plane crash and everything else were unbelievable.
Ben's picture outside in the snow was cute. She still found it crazy that they actually had good memories out there. She loved the one of her snow angels.
Miranda gasped at the next set of pictures. She was naked and had a satisfied smile on her face. Her hair was curly and looked as if it had hands that ran through it. Her lips were swollen and she had hickies on her neck and breast. She looked good. Honestly forgetting they had even taken these pictures. She closed her eyes and remembered it like it was yesterday, being on top of him and hearing the camera shutter. She clicked on her next one and the next one until she got to his. "Damn," Miranda whispered.
