*For those who think they already know this chapter... think again, some things have changed...*
Third Person
And Adeline thought being taken back home to be grounded wasn't embarrassing or bad enough... goodness was she wrong, this was simply the cherry on top of it all, wasn't it?
What Adeline had thought was going to be a lame time being stuck at home the one night of a full moon had just turned worse somehow, as she looked behind her... and had to accept that she would have a shadow when going out and about from now on.
A permanent scowl settled on her face as she kept glancing back at... him. The boy from the Isle, the one that had been training for months for this very thing, the one that she was just dying to either get rid of or use.
Being grounded like a child again was bad enough, then there was the horrible confrontation that started all of this, but adding salt to the wound like this was just the icing on the cake. This was the worst, it had to be the worst, all of her acting out and wild behavior had caught up with her in the form of him... the boy who was paid to follow her around, to keep her out of trouble, to protect her, to keep her where she's supposed to be when she's supposed to be there, and to make sure she doesn't do anything too brash ever again.
Adeline took a deep breath and slowly looked over her shoulder to look at the boy she'd only known for a few days. If anything it made it more awkward, especially as she locked eyes with him for a moment before turning around, remembering the boy she met on the Isle of the Lost that acted so much differently than this. The boy she met then was fun, was entranced by her at a surprisingly deep level, and... still snapped out of the trance and got her caught.
Never mind, out of a trance, he's just like every other guy... she thought.
Adeline began to slow down, observing out of the corner of her eye as the boy slowed down with her. Suddenly she leaped forward and broke into a sprint, running down the darkened corridor, the sound of her heels quickly clacking against the marble floor suddenly came alongside the sound of heavy boots doing the same. When she came to a sudden halt, she turned back, and he was still right there, lingering just a few steps behind her at all times... watching, waiting for her to do something wrong.
He was good... too good.
He didn't even react, he just stayed put with his hands held behind him, looking at her intently as ever as he waited for her to move again.
It wasn't hard for Harry to keep a close eye on her, even if he was just following her around just as he was right now. Not only could he run faster than her, was stronger than her, and so much more that allowed him to keep up with her with ease, but now... he could resist the very thing that messed with him the most back on the Isle. Thanks to the necklace Queen Ariel and King Eric had given him, she couldn't have any influence over his thoughts or actions. The best part was how she has no idea about the necklace, but she was about to find out. Or at least... get a hint.
Instead of slowly walking forward again to continue on to her room like she was supposed to, she glanced around, saw that they were alone, and decided to get this over with now. Adeline had to get Harry away from her, get some space, and she could make him believe that he didn't have to do what her parents and his teachers told him to do.
Slowly, she spun around on her heels with a charming smile spread on her lips, and right off the bat, Harry put his guard up. That smile was deadly, and it wasn't just the fangs peeking out from behind her lips that took the place of where human canines would be, it was how damn beautiful that smile was. Harry wasn't worried about the fangs, he was worried about the aspects of her that didn't inherently appear dangerous.
