Adeline POV
Melody spun around on her little Mary Jane heels, looking at herself in Evie's floor-length mirror for the final fitting of her dress, and I must say, Evie did a great job, and Melody looks beautiful.
I slowly nodded in approval at the dark red floor-length gown with off-the-shoulder sleeves, but for me, Evie added a dainty tulle strap going over the shoulders as well, and the sweetheart neckline keeps everything that should be kept in, in. For some added sparkle, there are some little crystals randomly scattered on the skirt of the gown that gleam right when the light hits them. It's genuinely gorgeous, I love it, it's elegant and actually suits both Melody and the occasion... and praise the gods, it's not short.
I was just fitted for my gown and requested that added leg slit for an extra three hundred, before Mel's, and she seemed... almost as if she was jealous of it, she likes her dress, I mean that toothy smile can't lie, but... isn't it odd that she kept comparing the two? She said she loved how form-fitted mine is up top, how the neckline sits, the true off-the-shoulder straps, and all the things I made her change about her dress, she was almost bitter about them being in my dress.
It almost gives me the impression that she's jealous of it or something like I put the elements she wanted in my dress on purpose? When I designed the dress with Evie like... three months ago. That's also why the alteration of adding a leg slit cost so much, she also has to add a little bit of boning into each side of the slit because of the shape of the skirt itself, and it's two days till Cotillion, I don't mind the extra cash... that leg slit is going to give me the mobility I may need. She also said she wished hers was as intricate and detailed as mine, but Evie had way more time to work on my dress than she did with Mel's... so I don't get what her problem is.
I'm just trying to brush it off, not let it bother me because if I let it bother me it's gonna get in my head a hundred percent. I'm worried about her enough, truly enough.
Evie did a few little touch-ups and took note to add a little bit more shimmer to the skirt, as it is... literally like two days till Cotillion, so it's crunch time without a doubt. And... in every regard, because I've been hounding Mal for more information about the missing trident, and I've essentially gotten nothing of substance back.
After we're done here we're gonna drop Mel off at gym class, then me and Harry are gonna go to Ben and Mal's offices to confront them on this, maybe Harry can do me some damn good and work as some sort of muscle-related intimidation... either that or I can remind Ben that I am fully capable of going psycho... as tame truly is the last thing I am.
I approved of Mel's dress, and I dished the cash out for my alteration and Mel's, as I already paid for the dresses in full when I got each of them ordered, and Mel got changed back into her usual clothes. But that look on her face is just... really getting to me, I'm worried... this isn't the Mel I know.
I've been better, I have been the last few days ever since her first day here went the way it did. I don't give any guys the time of day, I've been ignoring them nicely, I've been trying to be nicer to Mel, as in I'm trying to change my general behavior... but it's harder than I thought it would be, then again I've been like this for nearly four years now... it's gonna be hard to try and... be nice again, in general.
It doesn't help that I haven't had some true girls' time since Harry got here. Audrey was randomly pulled from Auradon Prep a week ago for some sort of wellness retreat so I can't blame her, but then Jane's been busy with actually planning Cotillion, so I can't blame her either, truly we... have all just been swamped by completely different things.
Since hearing about the trident disappearing, me and Harry have been taking our spare time to do any snooping we could, and honestly, it's concerning how little we're finding. So we've essentially just been researching the trident and any ancient uses to see if we could understand why someone would steal the trident a little bit better, but of course, that information is well guarded. I could and normally would go down and swim to Atlantis to go down to the library there, which would have so much more information... but with the trident missing I don't want to go into the ocean, which by the way, is killing me... but that's not related.
