Adeline POV
There is something... very odd about that man, that I know damn well I want to know.
After some decompressing sleep, I was thinking back to last night and how I was so rudely attacked, and I remember something that Harry, the guy who helped me out a bit, said while he was combatting the girl and the pirates that attacked me. Like... he said I was his responsibility, which at first I could pass off as him just protecting a royal for his reputation when he gets to Auradon as he claims... but then, he said he would allow them to kidnap the King of Auradon for all he cared.
What... surely for reputation saving the King would be the best thing, a Princess like me compared to a King... reputation would always favor the King.
Then he said he was doing his job as well, said I was off limits, and finally said one very... interesting thing.
Adeline is my responsibility.
I'm an heir to a throne, I mean... I guess I am trouble sometimes, I'm seen as a rouge... but... but would my parents really hire someone to be specially trained straight from the Isle of the Lost just for me? Without... telling me?
Mal left about thirty minutes ago to go get us food, and I stayed behind to think, sat at the bar top of the little kitchenette I used the alone time to ponder as she got us food for today. I just have to wonder... because now that I'm thinking about it, I do check like... all the boxes... my mom and dad wouldn't do that... get me a personal guard that is, why would they?
I don't need one, I'm fine, it's not like I've gotten into a near-death experience or anything like that. At least like... that they know of, I've gotten myself out of most situations alright... I don't want...
... I don't want a man tasked with following me around, that notion gives me... the creeps, to put it plainly.
I shook it off as I heard Mal kick the door open before letting out a dry heave, rushing to the kitchen area where I sat before quickly holding out a paper bag to me. I quickly took it, concerned as ever, only for it to stop once she turned away from the bag. So I peeked in and... oh! Goodie! She brought me a whole salmon! Well, that's really amazing, this is just great! I love eating full fish sometimes, it's just nice sometimes to live by my natural instincts! But I don't think Mal likes the look of an entire fish,
"Tell me you can do something with that thing, I cannot look at its glossy ass eyes anymore"
Oh, so the fish was freaking her out? Well... I'm about to freak her out more because my stomach is grumbling now and I don't feel like doing anything with this fish besides eating it.
So I just reached into the bag, took the fish by the tail, and took a bite out of the main body where most of the meat is, tearing away quite roughly so I would break the skin and take away enough bones. Mal, having witnessed the whole thing simply froze for a second, watching as I easily consumed the meat and all it came with. I still... think humans forget that we're technically very wild, even as classy as I am, my body doesn't exactly care. I can consume raw fish straight out of the water, in fact, doing just that every once and a while is very good for me. The vitamins, nutrients, and all that good shit is very potent in pure, raw, whole fish! Suddenly, Mal sunk to the floor with a shaky breath, straight up... passed out, well, that's better than throwing up I suppose!
I shrugged and kept eating, she'll come to in a second and freak out over this all over again.
To answer any common human questions, no, this does not harm my health in any way, the bones are rich in calcium which is very important to a good diet, no I don't choke on the bones or scales as our throats are built a bit differently than humans to allow for consumption of larger and rougher foods, the scales are simply salty and crunchy which I adore, yes I will eat an entire carcass including the spine and head, the fins are like chips, no I don't have a problem chewing as my teeth are extremely sharp, especially behind my more normal looking teeth and slice through tough content with general ease, plus we have four extra teeth compared to humans, and finally, yes, I'll also eat the eyes, they're a delicacy. We mermaids don't believe in wasting food, it's a gift to catch anything to eat, so we often wait as long as possible for hunting in order to get very hungry before catching something so we have it in us to consume the whole thing.
