I trembled nervously, fidgeting with my hands and picking at the skin of my fingers.

It was the talent show day, in which every class would choose a person to represent said class. Every student would put to some good use their talents, and, at the end, they would decide the winner of the contest.

My class chose me. Why? Because one time, during class, I was bored and I started humming a song. Unfortunately, I was humming it a little too loud. The teacher shot me a glance, one that said: "Shut up or you will be sent to the principal", which I didn't mind but I stopped immediately.

I loved the principal, and I mean it in every possible way. She was kind, beautiful, intelligent, smart, beautiful, tall, beautiful. Did I mention she's beautiful? Unfortunately, I didn't see her very much, since she spent her days in her office. And I didn't have anything important to say to her, not as important as to interrupt her work.

"Y/N, it's your turn."

I gulped. I never sang in front of a crowd as big as the one that was in front of me. I took my guitar, sat down on the chair that they kindly placed in the middle of the stage, and looked at the crowd. There were thousands of students, waiting for me to start. The teachers looked at me, smiling. After the rows of students and teachers, principal Weems stood in all her glory, her face serious.

I looked down at my guitar. I started strumming the first chord, F, then the second, Dm, and then the third, Am. I opened my mouth and began singing.

Think I need someone older
Just a little bit colder
Take the weight off her shoulders
Think I need someone older

I closed my eyes, trying not to let the emotions of singing in front of her distract me from my chore. But all I could see was her, and my heart began beating fast and loud. Would she understand that I was thinking of her while singing it?

I took the liberty of changing the pronouns of the song, to make it more relatable to my preferences. It was almost me coming out in front of the all school, but I didn't mind. I didn't mind them knowing, I didn't mind her knowing.

Darling, am I your little secret?
Eighteen, I'm old enough to keep it.
Yeah, girls my age just aren't the same
I'm young and that's ok

I opened my eyes and glanced straight ahead of me. Larissa had her arms crossed, her brows furrowed. I blushed. I loved the little line that formed in between her brows.

Think I need someone older
Just a little bit colder
Tale the weight off her shoulders
Think I need someone older

I saw her looking away. She went up to a professor, whispered something in her ear, then walked away. My heart sank in my chest. I continued singing, trying not to think of her.

When I finished, I smiled at the crowd, seeing people getting up and clapping, some whistling in approval. I went behind the stage, where a teacher was waiting for me.
