I watch my son sleep, his peacefulness puts me at ease. When he sleeps you would never know he was Austin's, the only similarity Cameron has to his father is his eyes- wide and green, the rest is all me. It was hard when he was first born, Austin had just been convicted- and it was summer, so not only did I have to care for a newborn but also my nine year old sister Sofia. Add that to the copious amount of bills and lack of money entering my bank account, I found myself doing whatever I needed to do, to make ends meet. Unfortunately that style of life worked and I've been living like this ever since- no... Not living... That's too strong a word. Surviving.
I don't wake my son up, I plant a kiss on his head and tell Sofi to keep an eye on him. Nat texts me to meet her at Mokai lounge, I unwillingly oblige.
I search my pocket, to find emptiness, I can't afford to get the bus so I walk to Mokai Lounge.
Nat hugs me as I enter, she marches me out of the building and to one of the alleyways. Nat doesn't exactly draw the connotations you would think of when you hear the word "Pimp". She's a pretty girl, innocent looking... But I wouldn't mess with her. She pulls out money and hands me a few hundred dollars, "Mr Chapman, said he would see you the same time next week.", her polite english accent may fool a lot of the girls, to be kindness- but I know it better, it isn't kindness, it's a commandment that must be followed through or there will be consequences.
She wryly smiles, and I start to leave, she grabs my arm and spins me around to face her, "There's a party tomorrow night. Make sure you make it."
She turns and heads back into the club, "I'll text you the details."
