Part 10: Wax On, Wax Off

"I can't believe this. I can't believe this" Daniel rants as he drove us to Mr Miyagi house.

"What?" Mr Miyagi ask.

"What you just got me into.You said you make things better." Daniel sigh annoyed.

"I did." "How?" Daniel ask looking at Mr Miyagi before glancing at me. I just shrug my shoulder leaning my head back.

"How? I saved you two months of beating." Mr Miyagi pointed out. I let out a chuckle looking at Daniel who's frustrated.

"Great. Now, I've got something to look forward to." Daniel let out a sigh.

I sat up straight and lightly push his shoulder. "Relax, Daniel. You're a free man now for two months." I laughs.

He grunt and roll his eyes.

"How much further is your house?" Daniel ask.

"Other side tracks"

"Are you in the oil business,too?" Daniel slowly drove inside the property.

The three of us got out of the car. "Reminds me of Newark" I said as I look around.

Daniel Nods. "what are we going to do here?" Daniel ask Mr Miyagi.

"Start training. Much work be done. Tournament here before you know it"

"That's what I'm afraid of. That teacher was really wacko." He said to me.

"Yeah, he scares me honestly" I nod. "Can't believe Tommy's part of that karate club."

Daniel roll his eyes when he hears me saying 'Tommy' name.

"No matter. Wacko teacher attitude rest in fist. Stupid but fact of life. Win,lose,no matter." Mr Miyagi advised. "You make good fight,earn respect. Then, nobody bother."

"They'll bury me when I fall" Daniel complains as I admire the yellow car behind us.

"Either way, problem solved. Wait right here." Mr Miyagi make his towards the house.

"Daniel, come check out this car." I call out for him while still admiring the car.

"This is great" Daniel look inside the car touching everywhere he can reach.

"You think one day we can have a car like this"

"I don't know. Maybe. Someday." Daniel shrugs.

I look at Mr Miyagi as he made his way back to us with a bucket and sponge. I furrowed my eyebrows confuse.

"I forgot to give this back" He took out some kind of headband out of his pocket and hand it over to Mr Miyagi.

"When you get that?" I ask.

"Last night, after I got beaten up by your boyfriend" he reply.

"You keep"

"Thanks a lot"

"Ready?" Mr Miyagi ask.

"Yeah, I guess so." Daniel fiddle around with the headband.

"Daniel-san, must talk." He pat Daniel shoulder to crouch down. "You too. Y/n-san"

I crouch down beside Daniel and Mr Miyagi.

"Walk on road. Walk right side, safe. Walk left side, safe. Walk middle, sooner or later, you get squished like grape." Mr Miyagi advisedwhile gesturing with his hands. "Here, karate same thing. Either you karate do,yes or you karate do, no. You karate do "guess so," just like grape. Understand?"

Daniel and I nod. "Yeah, I understand" Daniel response.

"Ready?"

"Yeah, I'm ready" Daniel nod smiling.

"Yes" Mr Miyagi nod while standing up with us following.

I look at the bucket full of soap water for a moment before looking at the car behind me confused. I look back at Mr Miyagi and Daniel.

"First,make sacred pact" Mr Miyagi tie the headband on Daniel's head. "I promise teach karate. That's my part. You promise learn. I say, you do. no question. That's your part. Deal?"

"It's a deal" Daniel nod putting his hand out for a handshake.

Mr Miyagi bend down and take out a sponge and put it on Daniel's hand.

"First, wash all the cars, then wax." Mr Miyagi gesture towards all the four dirty cars.

I let out a laugh in disbelief.

"Why do I have to...." Daniel complains before he get interrupt by Mr miyagi.

"Remember deal. No question."

"Yeah, but....."

"Wax on right hand, wax off left hand" Mr Miyagi move his hand in circle. "Wax on, wax off. Breathe through nose, out through mouth. Wax on, wax off. Don't forget to breath. Very important." Mr Miyagi walk towards the house slowly while repeating 'wax on, wax off'.

Daniel look at me in disbelief and scoffed.

"Where do these cars come from?" Daniel ask while looking back and forth at the car and the sponge.

"Detroit" he reply before repeating 'wax on, wax off' again.

Daniel look at the sponge before sighing annoyed and start washing the car. I look at him laughing slightly.

"Aren't you gonna help?" He look at me.

"I'm not the one learning karate so have fun washing the car,Daniel." I waved him off and walking backwards towards the house.

"Oh, come on." he sighs tiredly.

"Remember Daniel, Wax on, wax off. Big circle." I jokingly make a circle with my hands.

"Shut up, Y/n. Go away." He waved his hand away.

"All right, all right, i'm going." I let out a laugh and enter the house.

It was already night since Daniel start washing the car. I walk out with a bottle of water seeing Daniel crouch down while waxing the car.

"Hey, Daniel. How are you doing?" I stand beside him.

"Tired" he stand up from his position wiping his sweats.

"Here" I hand him the water.

"Thanks" He take the water and drink the entire bottle.

I look at the car impressed. "Didn't know you could wash cars so well. Maybe you can wash mum's car next" I suggest.

He hit my head with the bottle lightly. "I already wash 4 cars, you do it next."

"Nah, don't have time"

"Yeah? but you have time for Tommy?" he ask raising his eyebrows. "You and Tommy fighting?"

"You're really noisy, aren't you?" I look at him annoyed.

"Hey, i'm your brother. I have to ask."

"I didn't ask anything about you and Ali, did I?"

He roll his eyes and make his way towards the house. "Mr Miyagi, I'm finished. You want to check these out?" Daniel knock on the door. "Mr Miyagi?" Daniel called for him looking around.

I followed behind Daniel as he keeps calling out for Mr Miyagi. We both saw him on his knees (praying?). We both silently look at him before Daniel pull my hand.

"Come on, let's go home."
