Happy Valentine's Day

I was arriving home from filming a movie. Back to Boston, back home to my husband and kids. I was offered a movie role to film in London for the past 5 months, except for coming home for Christmas. I hated being that far away from Chris and the kids, but the kids were old enough now and I knew Chris would be fine.

Chris had given up 2 movie roles recently and it became a heated discussion when I filmed 2 movies this year alone. He thought we were both taking a break to spend time with the kids and as a family. I told him that I hadn't had the chance to act like he did, I was still big and getting my name out there and was still a highly demanded actress. Chris and I hadn't planned on this happening, we knew we were both wanted, and we figured being home together was all we wanted but when I was approached with some amazing scripts, I knew I had to take them, I couldn't pass them up. One movie I was even filming with Robert Downey Jr, and it was nice to have that little reunion with him.

Now it was the day before Valentines Day, and I was making it home earlier than expected. Chris didn't think I would be home yet, and I wanted to surprise him and the kids. I had brought the kids tons of souvenirs and things from London knowing I could make them all Valentine's Day baskets. I may have even gotten something special for Chris as an apology.

The last conversation we had wasn't the best. There was some yelling and something were said that maybe shouldn't have been. I made it home for Christmas and when I had to leave right after the new year that was the last time we really talking. I would call and talk to the kids but the conversation between Chris and I were few and far in between. I knew my marriage was in trouble and I wasn't sure if we could repair it.

I was riding in Lisa's car, and it was silent. Lisa came to pick me up from the airport and it didn't get past me that she knew about our fight, I knew she would know since I knew Chris had probably complained to her.

"I don't blame you, you know?" Lisa said and I looked at her oddly.

"What?" I asked.

"I don't blame you for wanting to go to work. For wanting to film. We all know Hollywood is fickle and Chris has made his name but if you want to stay relevant you have to work, you have to film and do the movies." Lisa explained.

"Yeah, explain that to your son, he doesn't seem to care." I snipped.

"He knows Rose, I can't explain why he did and said what he said but you two will work it out, you always do." Lisa said and I sighed with a shrug.

"I sure as hell hope so." I sighed.

The drive continued in silence, and I noticed from the moment I landed that it was snowing. I loved the fresh fallen Boston snow, and I knew a few kids and a dog that loved it as well. I was hoping they were getting to enjoy the snow.

Once we got to the house Lisa put in the gate code and I instantly felt sick to my stomach, worried about what was going to happen between Chris and me. I knew the kids would be excited, he would never turn them against me...would he?

Lisa parked and I got my suitcases and carry-on bag from her trunk, and she looked at me as I walked up to her side of the car after she rolled down her window.

"Just talk to him. Don't go inside upset, even if he is. You two always have moods and attitudes that play off each other. Don't do that now if he is made just stay calm." Lisa said and I nodded.

"Love you and thank you for picking me up." I said leaning in and kissed her cheek as she kissed mine.

"No problem." She said and went to pull out from the driveway as I headed through the front door.

As I walked in, I didn't hear anyone in the house. No tv, no voices, nothing...

I took my suitcases to the bedroom knowing I needed to get the kids gifts later but I had to find my kids first.
