003 - the mistake

MONTHS PASSED AND Kaori continued to train with the six-eyed demon, secretly from her abusive so-called father. Kokushibo would train Kaori hard and after their training, they would talk about their day - exchanging stories.

Kaori likes spending time with Kokushibo, sometimes, she doesn't like him being a demon since he can't spend time with her under the sun.

However, Kaori never questioned or asked Kokushibo about that - she just kept it to herself. Besides, she likes the moon so they can talk for hours staring at the moon.

It was around noon and Kaori was wearing the haori Kokushibo gave her, looking at the frozen lake near her house - poking the icy layer with a worried look.

"The fishes won't die, right? They must be cold... maybe I can ask papa to make small clothes for the fish!! So in that way, they won't be cold anymore!!" Kaori grinned, tapping the ice layer over and over again.

As she did so, she started humming to a melodic tune that she was familiar with. Tapping the glossy iced surface of the lake while doing so.

She could swear she heard a breath inching from feet away from her, she flinched, realizing that since the sun was out and Kokushibo couldn't be the possible person to witness her humming, her blood ran cold.

Heavy footsteps can be heard, coming towards the girl as she slowly looks back, 'It couldn't possibly be Papa... so don't tell me'

Her thoughts were cut short as a rough hand yanked her by her long hair causing her to scream in pain. It was Kenji, he looked really mad as his face was all red and his eyebrows were furrowed.

"How do you know that song!?" He screamed at her face, pulling her up by her hair as the young girl cried out in pain. "HOW!?"

"I.. I don't know!!" She replied, shutting her eyes close.

"You liar!!" He cried out, slapping the little girl on her cheek. Kaori fell down, holding her red cheek while she glanced up at her father. Kenji stared down at the girl, his eyes filled with disgust.

'Why are you looking at me like that... Do you hate me that much...'

"You fucking ungrateful little bitch!! Not only did you try to mess with my head, you also put something in my drink, didn't you!? I knew it smelled funny!!" He bellowed, his ears turning redder as he did.

"After all this time, giving you a roof to stay under!! How could you betray me like this!!" He yelled out, his eyes darkening while the red-eyed girl widened her eyes.

'How can he figure it out...'

"That's it. I'm going to teach you a lesson that you will never forget, I'll make sure you will always remember this day." He stated, dragging the white-haired girl by her hair as she cried out in pain.

"No, please don't hurt me!!" She begged, crying as he kept advancing - clenching his hands into fists as he dragged the girl by her hair harshly.

'Papa!! Please help me!!'

Kenji dragged the girl until they reached their house, throwing her to the table where everything on the wooden furniture crashed down. He grabbed a broomstick nearby and started hitting Kaori with it.
