Magna’s POV:

My eyes slowly began to open, I sat up and realized that I am on the couch in the common room. I thought to myself, “Wait a minute, wasn’t I being carried back to the hideout by Luck?! Shit I must’ve fallen asleep in his arms.” My thoughts were interrupted by Luck emerging from the hallway. He walked over to me and sat down on the couch with me. I turned so that I was no longer sitting horizontally.
“Uh h-hey.” I managed to stutter out to Luck.
“Hey Magna! Did you get enough rest from your nap?” He asked me, smiling softly.
“Yes, I did, uh t-thanks for carrying me back, Luck, I appreciate it.”
“Mhm, no problem, Magna! Anything for my best friend!” Luck smiled, but not his usual crazy person smile. This time, it actually seemed genuine. But his words rung in my ears, “Best friend,” I have no idea why, but those words, they hurt me for some reason. It felt like a knife was stabbing me in the heart.
“Uh, yeah. Best friend, right” My right eye began to tear up, I don’t think Luck noticed, though. My glasses were probably too tinted, plus he was sitting to my left.
“Hey Magna! Are you ready to fight me now? Luck inquired.
“Alright, let’s go!” Suddenly, my pain from before vanished, and I was getting out my grimoire. I began hurling fireballs at Luck. In response, he got out his grimoire as well and used his lightning magic to create his boots. He then proceeded to dodge all of the attacks I was throwing at him. He retaliated by throwing lightning bolts at me at really high speeds. It was chaotic, but honestly, it felt great. It was comforting, and it felt like home to me. We continued to fight each other, but the whole time, we were joking and laughing together. Then I threw a fireball, but Luck dodged it. It had ended up hitting the door made of wood, so it caught on fire, causing a blaze to surround our hideout. I threw another one, not really caring about it, burning the outside of the hideout or it hitting anything. I was just enjoying my fight with Luck. Suddenly, Luck yells, “Hey Magna! Guess what? I took one of your puddings!”
“Okay, now i’m real mad! You ready to take on my new techniques?!”
“Nope, not really! But ket’s go!” Luck yells playfully.
I start launching fireballs at him with my bat like crazy. We were making a really loud commotion, but I didn’t really care, I was just happy to be hanging out with Luck. Gauche Yelled from across the room, “ENOUGH! SHUT UP, DAMN YOU!” But I paid him no mind. Then some kid came in and started yellin’ some bs at us. But Luck and I were too focused on each other and laughing that we didn’t care at all.
“That flan you were saving was super tasty.” Luck teases and begins to laugh at me. I get more angry at him and yell louder.
“Good, because that’s the last thing you’ll ever eat!’ I screamed at the giggling lightning mage.
“You stole from me! My flan! Mine!” I declared. Luck just giggled in response. Vanessa begins yelling at us, “Ugh. Will you please shut up? I’ve got the mother of all headaches.” The witch complains.

I retort, “That’s your own fault, ya drunk!”
“What did you say?” She snapped back.
    “Oh, you heard me!”
Then she starts screaming at me, “At least I’m not a virgin street punk!”
I angrily responded, “Virgin street punk? Where do you get off calling me that?” For a moment, I forgot I was fighting with Luck the way that Vanessa rilled me up. Luck was up on the wall behind us and caught me off guard.
“Better be careful. Get distracted and I’ll get you.” I turn around, and he jumps away.
“Oh yeah? Then come back here and give it your best shot!” I challenge him. “Come on!” Apparently, at that point, we pissed off Yami because he punched a wall down. We all rush over, noticing the captain had just returned. I questioned him if he found an arrogant newbie that I could take down, but then Luck slapped me in the face, asking the captain to fight him instead. This kid named Asta introduces himself. It turns out he’s also from a village in the forsaken realm. Then Finral introduces everyone, but once he gets to Luck, they have a conversation.
Luck begins by saying, “Nice meeting you. So, hey, do you like to fight?” Luck asks the new kid.
“Uh, sure?” He responds, but he sounded confused.
This seems to make Luck excited, “Yeah? That’s cool. I love it! What d’ya say? Wanna go?” Luck invites him while punching in front of him, lightly hitting Asta’s hands that are placed out in front of him.
Asta seems nervous, but he answers, “Well, uh…” Then Gauche takes over talking to the newbie. Once that happens, for some reason, I feel relieved. For some reason, I had felt tense when Asta was talking to Luck. Finral finished introducing everyone else, including myself. Then Yami tells us to give the kid a workout, so I stand up and begin to speak.

“Did ya year him?” I question.
A small, scared “uh-huh.” Comes from Asta, and then I continue.
“Yami wants us to make sure you get a good workout. That’s just what I’m gonna do.” I say, sounding menacing and probably scaring the kid.
“A pathetic runt like you, and from where, Hage? A village almost no one has ever heard of before. Not much mana, either.” I say to him ominously. Hiding the fact that my description almost perfectly describes myself as well. “And you’re the newest member of the Black Bulls. You gotta be kiddin’ me? I don’t know what some magic-poor hick like you could’ve possibly done to impress Yami. Do you want to wear the robe that will prove that you are a true member of the Black Bulls?” I continued to berate the kid.
The kid gasps and then mumbles, not even answering my question. “That’s a real Magic Knights squad robe. It’s… It’s so, so cool!”
I retort, “Damn right, it is. So, you want it?”
The kid replies full of energy, “Yeah, I do! Gimmie, gimme!”
“Wow, you’re really excited. you want it that bad? Okay. But first, you need to earn the approval of Yami’s chief subordinate. Me: Man among men, Magna Swing. This marks your entry to the Black Bulls. A true baptism by fire.” I say to freak out the kid.
    “Say what?” Baptism?” Asta squeaks.
