Normally Irene Greenbriar either sticks with her siblings both almost half her age because her twin is too busy chatting up guys or talking with her friends then Irene has to talk to the important people which is nice because it means she is being treated like an adult but they do get really boring as she is still young and wants to talk about other things with people her own age. Today however she met a friend form place school called Adrian who she's kissed a few times and was currently swirling her around the large ballroom.

"Hey, Princess," Whispered Adrian into Irene's ear as he whirled her into the centre of on of the elaborate dances, "can I ask you something?"

"Yeah sure," Irene agreed leading them out of the circle after a few twirls and towards a table. She sat down and poured herself a glass of water while Adrian helped himself to a glass of wine - undiluted. Stroking her face he kissed her a soft, but passionate kiss.

"Can we go to the King and Queen's rooms?" He asked seductively into her ear whilst still kissing her. Almost as soon as he said it she pulled back if anyone looked at her it was obvious that she didn't want to do it but the way he looked at her longingly taking in the sight of her every curve and part of her body made her feel other things that made her confused.

"I mean it will be yours one day," he smiled at her - it warmed Irene's heart for him to believe that she would be queen, "I'm holding out hope that it could be ours." Irene gasped, she couldn't ever even think that Adrian would ever say that: her boyfriend which they haven't even confirmed yet basically just proposed marriage when she's thirteen, him only being a year senior- it wasn't even confirmed that she would get the throne even if everyone expects it. He slid his hand under her forest green collar and brushed her shoulder. There wasn't a way she could say no, he knew that as soon as he turned on the charm and started making her feel like the most special person in the world she couldn't say no: in a family of four kids even with parents like Jude and Cardan its hard to get attention even w"Sure." She gave a pained smile, "Yeah, I... I can get you in we just need to be to quick." Irene sneaked a glance in her parents direction. Chatting to Adrian's mother were Jude and Cardan- her father was drinking but not too much as her mother banned it and as for her she was trying to talk and contribute to the conversation but she was distracted by the youngest Greenbriar Caspian pulling on her dress saying (what Irene assumed were pleads of going to sleep and wanting to be read a bedtime story probably form Cardan but he was more busy and it was easier to get Jude's attention). "I have a small feeling that they're going to be in that room in a bit to get a book for my younger brother."

So that is how the princess of Elfhame and was outside the High King and Queen's room waiting for when the guards change for the third time that day and there's an opening to sneak into the room and close the door before anyone knew they were even outside the door.

"What do you want to be in here for?" Irene realises as she looks around her parents' sitting room only just realising that she gave him a way to come in here, but doesn't know what he wants or when he plans to leave. However, Adrian simply ignored her and went towards the bedroom. After a few minutes just like Irene predicted, the door opened and in came her mother and father-she grabbed Adrian form his place by the Queen's vanity desk and dragged him to the side of the bed which was the only place to hide in the very open bedroom.

"Don't say anything. Ok." Irene whispered at him sternly.

Tick. Tick. Tick. Tick.

They waited behind that bed until the door closed and Irene could breathe again, Adrian immediately set off looking at the desks again this time on the other side of the room to Cardan's .

"What are you doing we almost got caught! One of my parents came into the room and if they came in here we would be in serious trouble. We need to leave now!" Irene shout whispered at her friend. "Unless you tell me something else or leave these rooms now, I will tell everyone out there you snuck in here and you're going to get in trouble. Ok?"

"I am staying in this room and I want you here with me. I... I love you my princess" He whispered trying to convince her this was for the best and she should just listen to him, he stepped closer so they were almost touching. He leaned in for a kiss and just as Irene didn't know what she was going to do a stern voice came from the doorway

"What do you two think you are you doing in our room?"

Irene froze and turned around to see her father the, High King, standing at the door with his arms crossed and giving one of his looks that made everyone in the room become instantly terrified and went through a list in your head of things that could have annoyed him in any way and her mother who looked stunning and like she wanted to kill you at the same time.

After a full twenty minutes Irene had got a speech from both of her parents been interviewed and somehow Adrian left the palace and guards are still looking for him. Now Irene was in her bed with both her parents on either side. Snuggling up into her mother she started crying and regretting everything she ever said to Adrian letting him manipulate her and giving him a way into her parents room.

"It... it's all my fault." Irene cries into her mothers gold laced gown probably destroying it.

"Shhh. It's ok. You're only thirteen. Not only should you not need to worry about politics but this was not your fault Irene you got manipulated into doing things that you shouldn't even have to worry about for years." Cardan soothes her daughter.

When Irene finally goes to sleep after a few minutes and lots of reassuring, Jude and Cardan make their way to their rooms.

I hope you liked the first chapter and if you want to give me any suggestions, I would be very grateful. Really I would be grateful if just anyone read the book. Thanks if you do I'll try to upload at least one for each of the kids very soon and I will probably do some other ones if I get other ideas for the whole family. Thanks again :)
