Always

I am beginning to see the hope
The possibilities,
The promises You've laid.

No,
I do not have the perfect image I desire,
I do not have the perfect house
With the sun filled rooms,
The nice matching floors,
The unmarked up walls.

I do not have the big house,
The dream house,
The white picket fence.

But what I do have,
You are painfully showing me,
Is more than enough.

My home is enough
Because You are in it.

No, there is no upstairs.
No, no finished basement.
But Your scriptures are taped to my walls
And that's worth more than any nice photo or decorated shelf.

Lord, teach me bigger isn't better
Unless it's my faith growing in You.

Teach me a dirty sink is a blessing
Because You allowed us food to eat.

A messy bed is a blessing
We've someplace to sleep.

Dirty clothes are a blessing,
We've clothes to wear.

Lord, keep my eyes from looking at worthless things.
I do not need to have what they have.
I do not need more to be whole.
I do not need more when I have You.

Show me the glory to be had here.
Show me the joy.
The peace.
The fulfillment.
The wonder of Your spirit dwelling with me.

It is not perfect,
It need not be.
You will always tip the scale of earthly things.
Always, always, always.
