After hours of traveling, we set up camp. “So. What school do you go to?” Kagome asked. “Chiyoshi Academy.” “Woah! I heard you have to be a genius to even take their entrance exam!” “Uh… Yeah, I guess… I can’t wait to graduate though. That place is just full of idiotic, stuck up jerks who paid their way in, and don’t know how to work for anything.” “You’re the same age as me, so only about two more years to go right?” “Well actually, I Graduate in a few months.” “Wow. Wish I coulda been that lucky.” “It’s not luck-” “What the hell are you two talking about?” “School. Something you wouldn’t understand, Inuyasha!” Kagome scolded this guy a lot, but it was obvious that they both had the hots for each other. We changed the subject, to make sure he was included, so he wouldn’t complain so much.

As we readied for bed, Sango and I volunteered to have the first watch. I sat next to her and Kilala nuzzled up next to me. “Strange. Kilala never warms up to anyone this fast…” She trailed off as Kilala looked up at me. I petted her and continued with the conversation. “Well, I’ve always loved animals… All kinds of them…” Considering how much Kilala meant to Sango, we were off to a good start… Well, at least for now, until she remembered Miroku’s little perversion

I showed sympathy for her when she told me why she was after Naraku. I knew he was a bad guy from the start.

“I’m so sorry to hear that… You’re brother sounds like such a sweet person…” “Yes… He was… Do you have any siblings?” My heart sank. “No… I grew up alone. My mother died when I was really young…” “What about your father?” “Never met him. I’m not even sure if he knows that I exist…” “Sorry. I shouldn’t have asked-” “No it’s alright. You would have found out sooner or later. I’m glad I grew up the way I did.” “Huh? But, why?” She was obviously confused. “I’m glad I grew up alone. No one to hand me things. I’ve worked for everything I have now. I work two jobs, I go to school, and I’ve trained myself. I have no one else to thank but myself for that. If my parents were to raise me, I would be spoiled with the luxury of sympathy. And in a cloud of deception 24/7. If I made a mistake, they would just lie and tell me that I was doing fine, like all parents do…. Or so I’ve heard. They would pick me up and dust me off when would fall, avoiding the growth of my independence. I stand up on my own two feet. I fix my mistakes and become better and stronger every single day. They didn’t need me, and I sure as hell don’t need anybody.” “But.. Wouldn’t it be lonely? I mean, without family, who would you share all that success with? ” It grew silent as I devised a reply. “The same people who care for me. No one.”

I ended falling asleep on jinormus Kilala, while everyone else talked about me. I could just feel that vibe emanating from all of them.

Kagome’s POV

Inuyasha, Shippo, Miroku and I over heard the conversation between Yuna and Sango. I couldn’t help but feel sorry for her. I’ve always had… Someone there with me… No matter what. We have such a huge group and get along so well.. That must put her in an awkward situation. “Hmph, she’s pretty mature for a human.” Inuyasha stated. “It’s hard to believe someone could move on after something like that so early on in life…” Miroku added in and Sango continued. “She’s kind of like you Inuyasha-” “Yeah, and how’s that?!” “You both grew up alone… But didn’t let that stop you from becoming all that you could be.” I joined the conversation with pure facts that I believed to be true. “Hmph. Whatever.” As Inuyasha turned away I could tell that he felt some type of sympathy. And I knew that speech from Yuna had him thinking about how he grew up.

YUNA’S POV

It was mid day, and two villages later until something interesting happened. “What’s wrong Kagome?” I asked, cluelessly. Everyone else stopped, to wonder the same thing. “I sense sacred Jewel shards!” “What? Where? Are you sure?” Inuyasha’s attitude overall, changed drastically. He was pumped up and ready to fight. Just then, a little teal… More like greenish blue… Tornado made its way towards us. “Uh oh. Is that who I think it is?” Shippo stated a little shakily. I had no clue what was about to go down. A guy with a tail jumped out of the tornado thingie, and trampled over Inuyasha, which I couldn’t help but snicker over. The new guy was standing on Inuyasha while I poked him with a stick, to annoy him even more. “Kagome. How’ve ya been?” “H…Hey Koga-” “DO you MIND?!” Inuyasha yelled. I was still poking him. “Oh hey mutt face, you still hangin around?” I snickered again. This would be an interesting next few minutes. He then turned a little and noticed me. “And who is this?” “This is Yuna. Our new companion-” Kagome was cut off trying to change the subject by Inuyasha’s attitude. “What do you want you mangey wolf?!-” “How come I smelt Naraku late last night, but now, I smell nothing?! No trace is left! Don’t tell me you let him get away again!” “Uh Koga…” Kagome started. A few moments later we were joined by two more guys, and a pack of wolves, all out of breathe, following Koga’s speed. “H..Hey Ka…Kagome… What’s.. Up….?” One of them spoke. One had a silver Mohawk, and the other had a head full of silver hair, with a ball of it in the center of his hairline spiked up and black… Now that can’t be natural. Soon, they noticed me. “Whose the new girl?” The one with the black and silver hair rambled. Before Kagome could answer, or Inuyasha and Koga could stop arguing, I was tackled to the ground. “GAH!” I yelled out of sheer surprise. Before anyone could save me from what they thought as an attack, we all realized that I was being licked to death, and nudged for attention. “Well, hi to you too!” I smiled, only a little bit, which was hardly noticeable. I pet two of them at a time as they layed all around me. “They never warm up to humans like that...” I heard Koga try to whisper to his two other little buddies. I just shrugged it off, enjoying the attention I was getting from the wolves.
