The evening sky blended into a ballad of pinks and oranges as Lola stealthily tip toed across the estate. The past weeks had been wonderful for her. She and Katherine had built something special in Mystic Falls, and she would be sure to treasure their time there before the inevitable.

There were still occasions when she could not handle it. It had been one year since her new life had begun, and sometimes she could not bear to remember what it took to get there. Or rather, what had been taken for her.

She breathed slowly, admiring the humanity inside of her as soft puffs of air left her lips. She rustled her gown around as despite the evening setting, the hot weather continued to win against the many skirt layers she was adorned in.

Huffing in annoyance, she plopped herself on the cusiony grass in hopes that if she did not move, she would not be affected by the season's cruel conditions.

"What are you doing out here?" A deep voice sounding behind her. She jumped startled due to her unawareness of what was happening around her. "Someone could jump out of the woods, catch you off guard." Damon spoke to her with a light smirk. Amusement shone in his eyes at her own narrowed ones.

"She only person catching me off guard, Mr Salvatore." She got up and sauntered up the boy. "Is you." She poked him playfully on his chest as she skipped back down the slight hill whilst giving him a look with a turn of her head.

Damon, obviously understanding what she wanted, strolled purposefully toward her. "Be careful what you wish for Miss Lola."

They broke off into a run at the same time, and Lola barely had the time to pick up her skirts. She swished them from side to side to give her more momentum. As she was using human speed, it wasn't long before Damon caught up to her. He picked her up by the waist as giggles escaped her as he swung her around. He delighted in the sound, practically blessing his ears.

"Got you." He whispered into her neck his lips grazed the area between her neck and her collarbone. He placed a few small kisses on her jaw as she softly gasped, holding him to her back as his arms stayed around her waist, pulling her into him.

They soon ran back inside with their hands linked together. Their flushed cheeks were not caused by the sqealteting heat. Unbeknownst to them, Damon was right.

"So I put my hands up
They're playin' my song, the butterflies fly away." Katherine and Lola sang as they sped down some isolated road in the middle of nowhere. The wind flew through their curly hair as convertable turned a tight corner.

"I'm noddin' my head like, yeah
Movin' my hips like, yeah." They continued to sing as though Katherine hadn't almost lost control of the car.

"I got my hands up, they're playin' my song
They know I'm gonna be okay." They raised their arms up and swayed them to the beat, their heads tilted up at the canopy of leaves above them.

"Yeah, it's a party in the U.S.A.
Yeah, it's a party in the U.S.A." They were both so focused on the song they hadn't clocked that no one was controlling the car.

"Holy shit." Lola opened her eyes and focused onto the road in front of them. She squinted her sage eyes until she made out the shape of an animal. "Kat, look out!" She reached over and took hild of the steering wheel.

"What is it?" Katherine cringed as the sunlight peaked through the leaves right into her eyes. She turned to what Lola was so concentrated on. "Oh fuck." Her eyes widened as she also held on to the steering wheel. They were getting closer and closer to the small animal on the road, and there was no sign of the car stopping.

"Put your foot down." Lola yelled at her best friend. Completely baffled as to why she hadn't.

"Wha-" Katherine began, panic making her sieze up. "Oh, right." She pressed the brakes and let out a dry laugh as Lola looked at her incredulously.

She car screeched to a halt as Katherine lifted a hand to her forehead, her head resting back against her seat as she let out a dramatic sigh.

Wasting no time, Lola swung the door open, almost ripping it off completely and sprinted to the animal in the road. A smallish bunny stood staring at the car. Lola guessed it was in shock. Crouching down, she extended her arm and gently, in a non intimidating way, beckoning the animal toward her.

Soon enough, the bunny was laying comfortably in Lola's arms as Katherine pet his head happily. He nuzzled into her hand, and their smiles grew wider.

"But you're glad you didn't run him over." Lola teased with a raised eyebrow.

Katherine shot her a scathing glare. "Shut up, Elle." She went back to patting the bunny on his head. "What should we name him?" She paused her actions in thought as she looked questioningly at Lola.

"Umm, something cute like...." She tapped her finger against her chin as she fidgeted in her seat. "Oh, what about Leo." She cut herself off, not containing her excitement as a wide smile spread across her face.

Surprisingly, Katherine agreed. "That's adorable." She turned to the bunny who she was now holding. "You're adorable." She stroked his hair affectionately. "Aren't you Leo."

Lola tried not to provoke her as she took Leo and sat him on her lap. "Let's go. We can get him supplies in Mystic Falls."

Katherine agreed, and so they spent the rest of the journey listening to music on a quieter level as Leo slept.

They shuffled up the steps to the house they were going to be staying in. They arms were practically being cut off with shopping bags whilst Leo sat comfortably in a cage Lola had compelled him.

Since they didn't have to worry about paying for damages, Katherine kicked the door open and chucked her bags onto the floor as Lola did the same.

"You should probably call Mason." Katherine called from her spot on the couch. One of the clearly expensive pillows serving to hide her smirk.

"Ugh, I totally forgot about him." She groaned. They had done a rock paper scissors to see who would have to pretend date Mason Lockwood who was the werewolf they were using.

Extremely reluctantly, Lola pulled her phone out. She rang Mason and he picked up immediately, his desparation killing her inside. "Hey babe." The pet name made her grimace as Katherines laughs echoed around the room.

"Hey, I'm almost in Mystic Falls." His loving tone making bile rise up in her throat.

"That's great, we'll see you soon." She hung up as soon as possible, grumbling in annoyance as she sat next to Katherine. She crossed her arms over her chest in frustration.
