I wasn't happy about this. I found myself at Jeon Corporation just two days after the interview, having been selected. The fact that they chose me after the interview stirred conflicting emotions within me. It felt like confirmation that I was leveraging Ella and our friends for personal gain. Y/n contemplated silently as she stared at the guidelines for interns, dressed in professional office attire.
The cubicle where she sat was part of a larger space, with many other cubicles occupied by girls and boys of her age, all engaged in their tasks. The hushed murmurs suddenly ceased, and Y/n looked up to see everyone standing on their chairs. Confusion gripped her, but she froze in place, recognizing the familiar cologne lingering in the air.
How could she not recognize it? It was Jungkook's. Y/n gulped, feeling his presence looming behind her back. Jungkook's presence sent a shiver down her spine, his aura commanding attention without uttering a word. As the room fell silent, all eyes turned toward him, waiting for his next move.
Slowly, Y/n stood up as well, turning around to face Jungkook. But she stopped short when she realized he was mere inches away from her. Their eyes locked in an intense gaze, the air thick with unspoken words and unresolved tension. Y/n could feel her heart racing as she tried to decipher the emotions swirling in Jungkook's dark eyes. It was Jungkook who broke the eye contact first, his gaze sweeping around the room. "Dinner at 8:30 sharp down the street," he announced, his voice carrying a commanding presence that could make anyone weak in the knees.

At 20:45, Y/n gulped down the water from her glass and swiftly moved away from the guys seated beside her, her colleagues. They were here for the dinner party for new interns, which Jungkook was hosting. As the soon-to-be chairman of Jeon Corporation, he was taking some initiatives into his own hands. His gaze lingered on Y/n as she sat silently.
Y/n felt the weight of his stare, making her uneasy. She shifted in her seat, trying to avoid direct eye contact with him. Y/n sighed as she read Ella's message, knowing she had to make the trip to Ella's place. Despite being in Seoul, getting a taxi to Ella's private residence on the outskirts of the city was always a hassle. The area was surrounded by lush oak trees and exclusive properties, making it a secluded and peaceful enclave. Reluctantly, she finished her drink and excused herself from the dinner table,
Y/n dialed Ella's number as she walked along the sidewalk outside the restaurant.
Ella answered, "Heyy! What's up?"
"Ella," Y/n began, "it's not easy to hail a cab at this hour, maybe I can come over tom—"
Y/n was cut off by a familiar, masculine voice.
"I'll take you there," Jungkook said, stepping into view.
"Ella messaged me earlier, saying that I should drop you off at her place," he explained, his voice calm and composed.
Y/n glanced between Jungkook and her phone, her mind racing with conflicting thoughts. She wasn't sure how to respond, caught off guard by the sudden offer of a ride from him.
"Uh... alright then," she finally replied, trying to maintain a neutral tone despite the flurry of emotions inside her.
Jungkook nodded, his expression unreadable. With a gesture, he indicated for her to follow him to his car parked nearby. As they walked, a tense silence settled between them, filled only by the soft hum of the city night.
Y/n couldn't shake the feeling of unease mingled with curiosity. What was Jungkook's motive behind offering her a ride? And why now, after everything that had transpired between them?
Nevertheless, she followed him to the car, her heart beating a little faster with each step.
As they reached Jungkook's car, he held the door open for her, a gesture that surprised Y/n. She hesitated for a moment before sliding into the passenger seat, acutely aware of his presence beside her.
The car ride was quiet, the tension palpable in the air. Y/n stole glances at Jungkook, trying to decipher his unreadable expression. His features were set in a mask of stoicism, giving away nothing of his thoughts.
Unable to bear the silence any longer, Y/n cleared her throat. "Thank you for the ride," she said, her voice breaking through the quiet of the car.
Jungkook simply nodded, his eyes focused on the road ahead. "how's work there" he asked
Y/n shifted uncomfortably at Jungkook's question, the memory of their tense conversation from earlier weighing heavily on her mind. She hesitated before responding, unsure of how much to reveal.
"It's... fine," she replied cautiously, choosing her words carefully. "Just settling in, you know."
"Just fine?" Jungkook turned towards her as he spoke, the car halting at a traffic point. "I made sure nobody troubles you, not even the snarky seniors of yours."
Y/n felt a pang of surprise at Jungkook's words. His concern for her well-being caught her off guard, considering their strained relationship lately. "Uh, well," Y/n gulped, "you... didn't need to do that. Just accepting me at your company was suffi-"
Before she could finish her sentence, Jungkook interrupted, his voice softer than before. "Do you want to know why no company was accepting you?"
Y/n's heart skipped a beat at Jungkook's question. She turned to him, her eyes wide with curiosity and a hint of apprehension. His sudden openness was unexpected, and she couldn't help but wonder what he had to say.
"What... how do you know? Did Ella tell you?" Y/n blurted out, her voice trembling with a mix of surprise and confusion.
"I made sure," Jungkook smirked, his expression mysterious, and continued driving. Jungkook's cryptic response took aback Y/n.
