Rocky had lived his live in a haze the last 5 years. There wasn't a day when he didn't think about Reena and there wasn't a night when he didn't dream of her. He would have dreams of sleeping in her lap, or her laying on his chest as he caressed her hair, or hugging her from behind smelling her jasmine scented hair. He wasn't the same Rocky that the world knew. He was just living for the purpose of existing just as he did all those years ago before he met her. He was counting down the days until he will meet her in the after life.
flashback
He was working in the market, just as he did every other day. It was very busy today. It was the day before Diwali and people were rushing around everywhere, buying their last minute things. The streets were filled with colourful lights and people playing music.
2 men enter the scene wearing expensive suites and glasses. They were a heavy contrast to the people wearing kurtas and anarkalis.
"What a horrid place this is. It doesn't even have a place to walk or a single phone booth. How will we tell Gautham bhai that we have arrived" the man said removing his shades, looking around searching for a booth.
"Lets try asking someone" the other man said.
They pushed and shoved past people and finally arrived at a bangle shop. "Namaste bhaiya are you interested in buying some bangles for Diwali, I am the best shop in town" the shop keeper enthusiastically said showing the two clearly uninterested men some bangles.
"No but do you know if there is any phone booth near by, I need to urgently make a call" one of the men said.
"I don't think so I'm sorry" the shopkeeper said.
"Please we will pay you" the other man said forwarding him some money.
The shopkeepers eyes glistened at the coins. He pointed at a booth in the far distance
"That is the only booth here but its in that stall. You have to ask the owner before using it" he said and the two man hurriedly ran pushing past the on comers.
As they were nearing the stall they noticed a man with his back to the two men. He had long hair and was wearing a kurta and pants. The men could tell that the man was very strong and buff. The 2 men approached the man and asked if they could use the phone booth in the shop.
Without turning around he said yes and so the men went inside to use the phone. "Gautham bhai we made it to Surat. We know that the gold is reaching the port by midnight and our boys are ready to attack. We will call you after its done" he said and hung up the phone. The men thanked the shop owner and were just about to leave when they heard a voice.
"Wait...." the voice called out.
The 2 men halted their steps at the sound of his deep voice. It sounded so sharp and familiar. "Happy Diwali" the shop owner said and the boys wiped the sweat of their foreheads and slowly turned around. Just as they were about to wish him back, they saw his face. They froze.
It was Rocky, the same Rocky that the world believed was dead. He was here alive in Surat. They glanced at each other as if they were asking if what they were seeing was real. If he was alive then what was he doing here rather than in Kgf. Did Gautham know about this. Was he still managing Kgf secretly, did he hear the phone call.
All these questions were buzzing in their head. "Umm happy Diwali" they said and practically sprinted to the taxi and asked them to go straight to the airport.
