'we are kids who grew up way to fast'
"How are you?" I said breaking the awkward silence which was maintained from past few minutes after we entered my room.
"I'm fine.. how have you been?" I looked at her as she hesitantly asked me the question.
"I'm fine as well.. how is uncle and.. um, others?" I said fidgeting with my fingers while she looked at me with a small smile.
"They all are good."
And the silence took over again. I wanted to dig a hole and hide in it. Someone please help.
"Do you know what they are going talk about?" I said, again trying to cut the silence.
"uh.. well, it's about him." My heart started beating rapidly.
"Why?" I couldn't help but to ask. She held my hand and spoke.
"Don't cry okay? I don't know exactly but it's related to his marriage."
I could feel my heart ache. I felt numb.
"H-he's getting married?" I stuttered.
"Hey, it's okay, I did say I don't know exactly. But maybe... I'm sorry."
A tear escaped from my eye. The boy I thought would actually marry me turns out to be the boy marrying someone else tch.
I wiped the tear and smiled. Only if he wasn't my love but stubbornness, I would've destroyed him for this.
"I hope he's happy with his choice. Best of luck to him."
She gave me a small smile. Then started talking about stuffs. We started catching up with eachother.
She's still the same funny, bubbly, dramatic little girl. Even if she's somewhat near my age she acts like she just entered her teenhood.
~~~
Soon we were called downstairs and now they are talking about random things.
The only thing that felt off was Dadiji's behaviour towards me. Like she is very jolly with others but when I initiate a conversation with her, she acts like I'm somewhat a stranger.
What have I done to get this kind of treatment from her? I don't even know. Maybe.. it's because I left for studies? But I already informed them.
"Abhi kya kaam karti hai humari bacchiya" Lakshmi aunty asked as I looked at her giving her a small smile.
(What work does our girls do?)"Ek Curator hai aur dusri Graphic designer." Replied my mom.
(One is curator and the other is Graphic designer)"Ye toh badi Khushi ki baat hai ke dono ne arts leke itna acha career set kiya hai. Warna Arts wale toh aise hi badnam hai k usme koi scope nahi hai aur srif jo fail hote hai un logo ke liye hai."
(This is a great happiness that they both took Arts and set a good career. Or else Arts students are of low reputation that it doesn't have any scope and it's only for the ones who fail)A proud smile made it's way to my lips. I didn't know Arts was appreciated as well.
"Ye toh bilkul sahi kaha aapne bhabhi."
(You are absolutely right)Chachi said while my mom agreed along with Dadi ji.
"Radhika aur Maya kya karte hai?" Mom asked.
(What does Radhika and Maya do?)"Radhika Event manager hai. Aur Maya abhi B.Arch kar rahi hai."
(Radhika is an Event manager. And Maya is studying B.Arch)
[B.Arch = Bachelor of Architects)"Are wah. Badi khushi ki baat hai."
Lakshmi aunty nodded.
(Wow, that's great)"Wese, Shivani ko khana banana aata hai?" Dadi ji asked.
(By the way, does Shivani know how to cook?)"Ha aata hai na." Mom said while smiling. Dadi ji nodded, why this question though?
(Yes, she knows)"Fir toh achi baat hai. Bas aadha khana banate banate hi na chhor de." She said, which felt more of a taunt while looking at me with a piercing gaze.
(Than that's a good thing. Hopefully she doesn't leave while cooking half of the food)I gulped and looked at my mom,
"Are, nahi, Acha khana pakati hai Shivani aur Aditi bhi."
(Oh, no, Shivani as well as Aditi cooks good)"Aditi ka toh pata hai mujhe, wo khila chuki hai uske haath ka khana. Shivani Canada chale gayi thi toh uska pata nahi, isliye puchi."
(I know about Aditi, she has served me her food. Shivani went to Canada so I don't know about her, that's why I asked)Mom made an O face and then nodded. She looks like she have some personal problems with me.
Soon after, they left, biding bye. Me and Radhika did exchange numbers and even Instagram ID's.
I quietly went to my room and took my phone not bothering to ask what happened when I wasn't there. Cause Radhika already said it's about his marriage. Even if she wasn't sure.
I wanted to cry, scream, hit someone and go crazy but my body didn't seem to co-operate with me. It didn't seem to react to the situation.
I sighed, opening my Instagram and checking my DMs. 3 new message. sereyous. I started debating whether to open the message or not.
Currently I was definitely not in the mood to have fun or do anything. I threw the phone besides me. Burying my face between my legs.
I don't even know if I'm sad, angry, mad or what not. The feeling of uneasiness was occurring even more.
I never thought he could let me go easily. Did he actually believe whatever Shanaya told him? No, he can't. I know he won't. He's not someone to give up without finding out the truth.
But.. his sister told me they came here maybe because of his marriage. She wasn't sure. This way you are just doubting the power of his and your love towards eachother. Is your love this weak? To doubt him?
The voices in my head just made things worse for me. The fact they were spitting facts wasn't digestible. Like, it's right at points. I'm just doubting him and our love.
Stop making me believe in love once again..
