THIS WAS WRITTEN AND POSTED ORIGINALLY ON MY AO3 BEFORE 'Lunar is FRIENDZONED! In VRCHAT' AND 'Lunar is FLUSTERED! In VRCHAT' WAS POSTED.

The calm sound of water and birds chirping surrounded the two. It’d started as a training session, but eventually they’d both gotten off topic, so they’d just resorted to having a ‘hang out’ day. Castor swore it was still training. How? Lunar was occasionally using his powers. Wow. skill. The two sat on a bench, Lunar kicking his legs and ranting about whatever topic was brought up. Castor, despite looking the same as always, was intensely listening. While they were not as enthusiastic as their sister, they still had an interest in the planet. Particularly in books.

The star felt a certain buzz from sitting next to the animatronic. A flutter in their stomach. A grin at something they usually don't grin at. A flustered feeling. It was all very, very weird. Maybe it was that ‘date’ they’d gone on? Castor had been informed later that a date was something romantic. Pollux didn't seem to care about what it was, just said she had fun and wanted to go on another.

They wished they could be that calm about it.
But no, they couldn't. Instead, it plagued their thoughts. Every waking moment they’d have it in the corner of their mind. For a bit they’d tried avoiding Lunar, but the celestial still needed training, so that’d failed. Eventually they gave up and continued as normal. Except maybe they were visiting Lunar more often. Pollux had pointed this out, and while they’d hastily denied it, they had to admit it was true.

Castor was snapped out of their thoughts by Lunar asking them something. Seeing their confused expression, he repeated the question. “How’d you feel about the date Monty set us up on?” they cursed themselves in their head for jinxing it. They’d been thinking about it so Lunar asked. Stupid, stupid.

“It was fine. I think it’d be fun to go on another.” Castor said. That wasn't even half of what they were thinking. But they didn't know how to express everything else, so they’d stick to a short reply. “Pollux said she had fun.” Lunar looked from side to side, fidgeting with his hands before speaking again. “You know a date is, like, a romantic thing, right?”

Castor nodded. “We have.. Been made aware.” Pollux had been fronting for most of the date, yet Castor was still aware of what had been happening. Seen it through their eye. Lunar seemed nervous, they noticed. “Well, uhm, that’s a bit of why I brought it up.” Castor looked into Lunars blue eyes. He had pretty eyes. Hadn't Pollux mentioned that before? They agreed with their sister.

“Castor, do you think that.. Are we anything beyond friends?” the constellation felt their heart skip a beat. They didn't know much about love, or feelings, but they were certain this was a good thing. “I.. do not know.” they noticed Lunar looked a bit disappointed. Castor aimed his gaze “I feel happy near you, but I'm not sure what that means. You.. make me feel weird. A good weird.”

Castor looked up, only to realize Lunar had gotten much closer than before. The celestials hand rested on top of theirs. It made their heart flutter, just a bit. “Me, too.” Lunar murmured. The two were much closer than before.

Suddenly, Lunar broke out into a grin, before giggling. Giggles turned to chuckling, then laughter. Castor didn't really get why they were laughing, but eventually they fell into it and started laughing, too. Lunar took the constellation's hands in his own, pulling Castor off the bench. They let out a squeak of surprise, almost falling backwards. Lunar quickly reached forward, attempting to catch them. He was successful with this.

Lunar quickly placed his hands on Castor’s shoulders, pulling them forward. He grinned, and soon the constellation felt themselves starting to smile, too. “What were you laughing about?” They asked. “Because I really like you, Castor. Love, friendship, whatever. Hearing you say that you felt similar was a relief, yknow?”

They nodded. Castor felt.. Odd. they didn't know what this feeling was. Lunar seemed to notice, and pointed it out. “You ok?” the constellation quickly nodded. “I feel weird.” Lunar raised an eyebrow, prompting them to continue. “I feel all.. Bubbly. I think i’ve seen Pollux feel like this before.” Lunar knew the astral had trouble with emotions, so it wasn't too big of a stretch to guess that they didn't know anything about them. “I think that's Happiness.” Happiness. Happy. That seemed to fit.

“I think so.” Castor spoke slowly. Their hands slowly gravitated towards the celestials, locking their pinkies together. Soon turning into hand holding. Tracing their star-covered hand over the metal of his. Lunar was giddy, trying to contain his excitement.

“Is this something?” Lunar asked.
“Do you want it to be something?” Castor replied.

Lunar thought on it for a moment, before nodding. “I want this to be something, Castor. Something serious.” the constellation felt their cheeks grow hot, a faint glow coming from them. “Ok.” Despite their monotone voice, they were excited in their own way.

“Castor?”
“Yes?”
“Can I kiss you?”

The question came seemingly out of nowhere. Castor paused, before nodding. Lunar leaned forward, before pausing. “..I-i don't know what i'm doing.” Castor felt themselves crack a grin, moving their hands away from Lunar’s and onto his face. Even without becoming Gemini, they were still a bit taller than the celestial. They leaned in, giving them a quick peck on the lips.

Truthfully, they didn't exactly know what they were doing, either. But they’d seen humans doing that, so that was what they were supposed to do, right? Castor pulled back, hesitating. “How was that?” their expression remained monotone, despite the affection they’d just shown. A soft whirrr came from the animatronic soon after, his fans kicking up.

“That.. that was awesome!” Lunar grinned, taking the constellation's hands in his own again. He felt giddy from the excitement. And maybe he was just being delusional, but he swore he saw Castor smiling.

“So, yes? This is a thing? Us?”
The constellation was silent for a moment.
“Sure. I don't know much about love, but.. I’d like to try this.”

Lunar grinned, wrapping his arms around their waist and pulling them into a hug. Castor felt their face getting warmer. They liked this. The hug felt secure yet loose. They found themselves leaning into the touch. Lunar looked up at the sky, pulling back. Castor looked up as well, noticing the sky had dawned an orange fade.

“Oh.” Castor exclaimed, turning towards Lunar. The star looked a bit disappointed, but still grinned. “I’ll see you tomorrow, ok?” Lunar said, beginning to turn away. Castor gave a nod, waving goodbye as the celestial sped off.
