CHAPTER 31 - Court day

I want to show both Noura's and Scarlett's perspective at the same time, so this chapter is 3rd persons POV:

Noura woke up this morning letting out a deep sigh, around 10am. Miss Blunt knocked on her door. "Come in" Noura said. "We have to leave at 12:30 alright?" Miss Blunt told the blonde. Noura responded with a big sigh. "I know that you don't want to go, but we have to" Miss Blunt said with a sweet smile. "Is she going to tell me in my face that she doesn't want to foster me? Why do I need to go just to hear those words and leave again" Noura told Miss Blunt. "I'm so sorry sweetie" Miss Blunt said, feeling very sorry for the girl. Miss Blunt knows what is going to happen today, she just needs to make sure to take Noura with her to court.

Meanwhile Noura woke up around 10am, Scarlett was pacing back and forth in her room. She woke up around 6am. "Scarlett stop moving! It's going to be okay!" Lizzie yelled at her pacing best friend, to make Scarlett freeze. "You can't just day that if you don't know it!" Scarlett said back. "Do I say things like that when I'm not sure? No, I do not." Lizzie sassed back, making Scarlett roll her eyes. "Now come downstairs, Robbie made breakfast" Lizzie told Scarlett, both blondes went downstairs and ate breakfast with Robbie. "How is Rose doing?" Robbie asked Scarlett. "Good, she's with her dad now he's in town. He will drop her off this evening, she told me she hoped Noura would be here." Scarlett said looking sadly at her plate. "She is" Lizzie said, Scarlett gave her friend a little smile.

It was now 12:30, Noura sat in the car with Miss Blunt on her way to court. She texted Julie quick because she needs her to be there with her.

Noura Carey:
Hey did you left yet?

Julie James:
I'm with my mom in the car right now don't worry!!!!

I will be there Nour🫶🏼

Noura Carey:
Thank you! I'll meet you at the entrance I don't wanna go inside without you.

Julie James:
It will be okay!!!!! 💗

Noura Carey:
Thank you 💋

Noura felt relieved after she read the messages Julie had sent. With Julie by her side it will be okay.

Noura and Miss Blunt arrived around 12:50, they waited in the car until they saw Julie and her mother. Miss Blunt and Noura got out of the car and walked to Julie and her mom. "Hey Nour, how are you feeling?" Jessica asked Noura as they walked in the big building. "Okay I guess, I just want this to be over" Noura told her. Jessica gave her a sweet smile that said that she understood Noura. Noura, Jessica, Julie and Miss Blunt went sitting in a waiting room. But then Noura saw Scarlett, Lizzie and Robbie walking in. Scarlett looked at her, they made eye contact. But before Noura could feel anything she ran to the bathroom, Julie followed her.

"Noura? What happened?" Julie said when both the girls were in the bathroom. "It was her! I didn't knew it would affect me this much to see her here" Noura said with tears. "I'm so sorry, I will be with you the whole time okay. Can I hold your hand when we go out for the bathroom?" Julie asked. Noura nodded. The girls talked with each other about a different topic, to change Noura's thoughts for a few minutes. Julie grabbed her hand and they walked back to the waiting room after 5 minutes. Luckily Scarlett wasn't there. After five minutes someone told them that they could go to the courtroom. Noura felt really anxious, but it helped that she was still holding Julie's hand. Noura saw Scarlett sitting next to Robbie and Lizzie in the corners of her eyes, but she made sure not to make eye contact. Jessica, Miss Blunt, Julie and Noura went sitting on the other side of the room. As if they were fighting against each other, what kinda is happening?

"Hello everyone, I am Richard Breckenridge. Welcome to the courthouse everyone!" The judge spoke up to make it silent, but it was already very silent in the room, you could hear a needle drop. "Today is a very special day, I always like it when I do a fostering process." Richard Breckenridge spoke up. Noura felt Scarlett's eyes on her, but she still didn't looked back. "This is between Scarlett Ingrid Johansson and Noura Naomi Carey" He finished, looking at everyone a bit confused when he noticed everyone sat down far away from each other. "Does one of you want to say something before we start?" The judge asked. Noura wanted to say a lot, but she just stayed silent. "I do, your honor" She heard Scarlett say. Here it comes, Noura thought and closed her eyes.

"I wrote this letter and I ehm, I would like if I could read it" Scarlett said and stood up. "Of course Miss Johansson, go ahead" The judge said. Scarlett read out the letter, with tears in her eyes. Noura looked finally up at Scarlett, and listened to every word she said.

The letter

Dear Noura,

I met you March 13th, and since the moment you walked in the office I felt this incredible bond. You are very easy to talk with and very sweet. I love every picture you take, and every joke you make. I love spending time with you, and going to the McDonalds drive through. I love our Taylor Swift karaoke sessions in the car, I love your cuddles and holding your hand. I love laughing with you, and I love your bond with Rose. I love how clingy you are when you're sick, and I love to take care of you. I love your enthusiasm, and I love your smile. I love it when you say 'I love you' to me, because I love you so much.

The last day at the office, something happend. It was not what you think. I was calling with my publicist about an event I had to go to this Saturday, but I canceled it because I wanted to spend the first weekend together with both of my daughters. I never doubted you, I never regretted you. Not one millisecond. Everything is very real for me, so real that it scares me sometimes. I want you with me, and I want you to never leave. I want to take care of you, and fight with you over silly things because that is what mothers and daughters do. I love you Noura Naomi Carey, I love every inch of you. I hope that you can forgive me, I am so incredibly sorry about everything. Thank you for hearing me out, I am always here for you. I love you so much Nour, I love you to the moon and to Saturn.

Noura felt her own tears on her face, Scarlett was crying too. This was all a misunderstanding. Even Miss Blunt, Jessica and Lizzie were wiping their tears away. Julie still held Noura's hand. Noura stared at the chairs in front of her, deep in her thoughts. This was all a misunderstanding, Scarlett wants me, she actually wants me. Noura looked at Julie, and Julie nodded at her. Noura stood up and walked to Scarlett, and she gave Scarlett a long lasting hug. They both never want to let go. The judge stayed silent, just to witness this beautiful moment.

Noura started sobbing in Scarlett's arms. "It's okay honey, I got you. It's okay." Scarlett whispered softly while still hugging the girl. "I missed you so much" Noura spoke up when she got out of the hug. "I missed you to Nour, so, so much" Scarlett said. Noura stopped sobbing, and happiness came over. She went sitting in between Scarlett and Lizzie. I have finally found the person who can touch me without flinching, Scarlett Johansson. Noura thought by herself. She felt safe with Scarlett. Let the fostering process begin.
