Leaving the train station, Eda led him through the streets of Constantinople, she turned many times, he suspected it was more to look at him than make sure he was following. Her eyes were as longing to see him as his. He could see them fill with love and soften each time she did turn a tiny smile graced her lips.

He also saw something else in her eyes that intrigued him, it was nervousness, apprehension perhaps. Serkan wondered if there would be a day he could fully read her.

She led him inside a building and into a flight of stairs to an appartement, Eda knocked. Serkan looked at her. "Who's place is this ?" He asked.

"Sshh, be patient." She requested, and took a deep breath as they could hear the door open.

Serkan felt the floor slip from beneath him, as if he was taken from this reality to another. An unreal sight before him. Behind the door, stood his sister Naïri Baltayan.

Shock filled him first, astonished, he could barely believe his eyes. It's only when Naïri looked at him with longing and teary eyes and whispered his name that he bolted out of his shock and stepped forwards, a hand reached to her cheek to check if she was real.

And indeed, she was. He stepped inside as he hugged her in one rush."Naïri...you're alive." He let out in a broken voice.

"I am. I missed you so much." Naïri relished in her brother's arms. He smelled like home, a little bit like their mother and something distinctively him. It was the only thing left of her entire house, her brother's scent when he got ready in the morning.

Eda watched the siblings meet again emotionally, she grunted as she carried Serkan's heavy suitcase inside and closed the door behind them.

Serkan and Naïri were crying against each other and she almost felt voyeurist. She could never fully relate to their pain, and despite her engagement, she would always feel partly guilty and ashamed for what her people did to them.

As if sensing her unease, Serkan glanced at her with teary eyes, and opened his second arm, prompting her to join their hug.

Eda smiled sadly at how much this man loved her and joined them, resting her head on Serkan's shoulder, she had missed him so much too, on her own scale of months.
