jaemin was back for rounds once again. ayaka wasn't here to join him, just xia and jaehyun who usually got off task when it came to the afternoon shifts.

he drank out of the juice pouch jaehyun had basically thrown at him earlier, staring at the two as they spoke. "jaehyun, just cuz doyoung isn't responding to you doesn't mean he hates you."

the two were in a really weird conversation, talking about anything and everything that included xia and her fiancé. jaehyun and doyoung were good friends, the younger boy teasing xia about how doyoung loved him more than her. xia felt her phone buzz in her pocket, taking it out to see what was going on.

she sighed, turning off the alarm and looking at jaehyun. the older nurse shook his head, the two turning to jaemin. he deadpanned, shaking his head at how simultaneous they were. "i just got here and you're already ordering me around."

xia laughed at the pouty intern, but straightened up, almost forgetting she was his supervisor. SNU had given xia extra pay just to, practically, babysit jaemin. she was supposed to order him around.

"jaemin can you go check on the patient in room 607? dr. lee's orders.. just for her daughter." jaemin sighed, but nodded, standing up from his seat. he grabbed his ipad, throwing away the juice pack, and walked away from the nurses station.

the hospital hallway was quiet, machines beeping everywhere you went, those being the only thing that didn't make the area completely silent. he got closer to her room, seeing a few people walk the opposite way, towards the elevators.

jaemin knocked on the door, " come in." he heard, the patient notifying him that it was allowed for jaemin to enter the room.

he walked into her room, immediately seeing her laptop on the sliding table that the hospital provided. he wasn't sure what she was doing, but he for sure heard professor park's lesson on sentence structure coming from the speakers.

"hi mirae. they sent me here to check on you. are you feeling okay? nothing too out of the ordinary?" jaemin pulled up her chart on his ipad, wanting to see past notes and note down how she was feeling now. "oh you've been here since friday. hopefully it isn't too bad?"

"umm.. it's just boring.. and someone else just checked on me ? like less than an hour ago." jaemin nodded, checking out the medications that the hospital had administered to her the weekend that she had to stay cooped up.

"because of the new trial medications they put you on, they wanted to make sure you'd be checked on every 45 minutes, just to make sure nothing goes south all of a sudden." he heard mirae hum, and saw out of the corner of her eye that she was picking at her cuticles.

"if you don't feel uncomfortable.. or there isn't pain then i won't note anything specific. you just have to tell me what you did in the last 45 minutes." jaemin said, trying to make sure the girl was comfortable. he knew what it was like to be pushed, and he hated it.

"i'm okay. maybe 20 minutes ago it felt like my heart slowed down, but my mom said that was a side effect to the trial. i got up because i needed to pee and that was all." jaemin nodded, jotting it down while the recorded lecture came to an end.

"professor park is one of the better english teachers, he doesn't grade too hard so it's good you got him." jaemin said, remembering when he had to take english 1.. almost three years ago.

"ah.. that's what my older brother said too." mirae said, closing out the video and going to the work assigned. the two stayed quiet, jaemin finishing the notes he had to write down for this observation.

"um.. i never got your name." mirae said, glancing at the interning doctor who she still barely knew. might as well. seeing as he made small talk about college.
