Silence.
It was the following morning and Calixo was scrolling on his phone beside me. "Who was it this time?" Was the only thing I managed to say, my heart racing as soon as I woke up.
"Tofuu and NightFoxx disappeared while we were sleeping. School's canceled for the rest of the week." Calixo sighed.
"Tofuu? NightFoxx? They're middle ranks though?" I scratched my head in confusion. There was no consistent pattern in these random disappearances.
At first I did my own little investigation. But I quickly drew a blank- telekinesis was very common, same with teleportation and shapeshifting. Mr. Boringsworth, for example, could shift between forms mid-lesson..
Nevertheless, I shook it off and got up to retrieve my own phone.
I had no new notifications. Zero. My parents stopped reaching out after last week on Friday before Mr. Boringsworth disappeared. Worse enough, nobody was allowed in or out of the campus at all times apparently.
....
There wasn't much for me to document about this week. I felt gamuts of emotions but none could replace the silence that lurked throughout the school.
Laughter no longer was contagious. Chat rooms were the only way to communicate with those outside of your dorms, specialized people had to deliver food to you- call it a break all you want, I felt like I was in prison.
It was only when Sunday arrived the warning was finally lifted. Everything wasn't nearly as active though. Something was bound to happen, right?
Calixo eventually felt comfortable enough to stay in his own room. I spent the rest of Sunday cleaning my room, sweeping wrappers and doing some much needed dishes and laundry.
This part of my story felt short-lived. Quiet, oddly quiet.
...
My predictions were wrong as Monday dawned. The principal was next on the list while we just got into school.
