After three years of college and four years of medical school, they were here. Nadine and George O'Malley were finally surgeons, they were finally starting their occupational journey. They were doing it, following their dreams.

At ages twenty five, the twins were graduates of medical school and ready to become surgeons. George was still living with their parents and Nadine was living in a three bedroom apartment with her three year old daughter, Zara.

"Hey baby girl, you're going to stay with granny and grandpa for two days. Okay? You're going to be good and you are going to make me proud." Nadine was running her hand through her daughter's brunette locks.

The three year old giggled as her mom pressed kisses into her cheeks. "Mommy. Hungry." Zara signed and smiled as she wrapped her arms around her mom's neck.

Nadine and her family had worked on teaching Zara sign language since she was around two because of Nadine's partial deafness in one ear.

The time was half past four and Nadine was quickly bathing her three year old daughter, and herself to save time. "Splash splash." Zara giggled as she splashed the water onto her mom.

Drying a wriggling three year old half asleep was difficult, especially when wet. "Pink playsuit or yellow?" Nadine questioned her daughter as she pulled on her pants and socks. Her baby pointed to the yellow one with duckies.

After her daughter was dressed she set her in her bed with her teddy as she started to get dressed. She pulled on black leggings, a grey sports bra and a pink strappy t-shirt.

Her work bag was slung over her shoulder, as she picked up her sleeping three year old and her day bag. It was quarter to five in the morning as Nadine strapped her daughter into her carseat and start driving the ten minutes to her mom and dad's house.

George jumped in the car, smiling as their parents came out to the car. "Hey dad." Nadine smiled as he kissed his only daughter's cheek, her mom picking up their granddaughter. "She has her bear in her bag, she won't sleep without it, her blanky, bottle, dummy, sippy cup, change of clothes and toys in her bag. Call me if you need me." Harold and Louise waved their two youngest off as she rode to the hospital.

They rushed into the hospital together, catching the Chief's speech, seven years, eight switches, five cracks and two leaves, was the gist of it. Nadine was preoccupied, it was the first time she would be away from her daughter for longer than a few hours since she gave birth.
