Someone once asked me, "why do you always insist on taking the hard road?" To that I replied "What makes you assume I see two roads?"

Chapter 3

Nico P.O.V

Out of all camp activities, Capture the flag was definitely my favorite. The first time I played - since after the war- I had only agreed to it on the account Hazel had asked me too. To my surprise, I genuinely enjoyed it. And since that first time, I had never been on a losing team.

Not to be narcissistic but most teams try to stake me out first ever since I was cleared by Will from the infirmary. Since I can shadow travel, winning capture the flag becomes increasingly easy with me on your team.

Picking teams was going to be great too, since we had decided to leave it up to a coin flip.

As I exited my cabin I tried to focus on the team pairings I had coming up, but my mind kept on drifting to my talk with Will. It was so unnerving. If we were normal kids we would have chalked it up to some sort of crazy coincidence. But we aren't normal kids-were demigods. And powerful ones at that. Similar dreams are basically your brain, or a god for that matter, trying to tell you that you're going to be in grave danger.

"Nico!" I looked up to see Percy grinning, He was holding a cookie in his hand. "Here you go dude, scored you the last cookie!" I smiled slightly but quickly covered up. Despite our rough history, Percy had really grown to be a sort of big brother to me.

"Thanks Percy" I took the cookie from his hand. "But I'd rather you just chase, what do you want?"

"You wound me Nico, always so harsh." I raised my eyebrow and scoffed.

"But you are playing for my team in Capture the flag right?" I started walking Percy trailing behind me.

"Since when do you care about winning capture the flag? You're usually just in it for the fun."

"Well me and Annabeth may have made a bet." I turned around.

"You made a bet with Annabeth on a strategy and combat game?" I shook my head. "Dumb move dude, even for you."

"Hey!"

"Also, didn't you hear? Team captains are flipping a coin this time."

"What do you mean?" I sighed.

"I mean the team captains are flipping a coin to see who gets to choose their first pick at cabins."

"What?! Since when do we do that?" He shouted.

"Lower your volume kelp-head." I said exasperated "And they mentioned it at the last Counselors meeting."

"You were there, I didn't see you?" I flinched slightly, I was used to people forgetting I was there. And I was even hiding in the corner of the room so I knew I shouldn't take it personally.

Percy's eyes widened slightly. "Oh sorry man-"

"Don't Percy, it's fine, seriously," He looked at me gratefully. "Now let's go meet everyone else, the sooner we're there, the sooner I get to see you getting your ass beat by Annabeth." Percy frowned.

"Hey, you're supposed to be on my side!" I snorted.

"I'm kidding you might have a chance, people don't give you enough credit intelligence wise." He grinned.

"Ooh ohh if I get Jason and then you and Hazel we can form a Big Three team!"

Percy had started sprinting, eager to tell Jason and Hazel his idea. I sighed and followed him.
