Chapter 18: Tarkatan Camp

In Outworld, inside a beautiful temple garden. Luscious plants surround the walls, while patches of mildew adorn the marble steps. A waterfall flows into a nearby fountain, and standing on the steps are Raiden, past Jade, and Mileena, past Mileena, and Luna.

Kotal: The Tarkatans, long extinct, have also returned.

Raiden: Shao Kahn will seek them out. He relies on their power.

Past Jade: Kotal's scouts tracked a Tarkatan war party to the Kytinn's Lost Hive, D'Vorah's ancestral home. Her hand in Shao Kahn's escape makes that our starting point.

Raiden: Please advise me of what you learn. I must consult with the Elder Gods.

He lifts his hand into the air and teleports away with a flash of lightning.

Luna: If I had a coin for every time he has said that.

As Raiden exits, Kitana walks down the steps of the temple.

Kitana: When do we leave?

Mileena: Your duty lies elsewhere, sister. I need you to enlist Queen Sheeva. Her support is critical, against both Kronika and father.

Kitana seems none too happy at being ordered around.

Kitana: Surely you can-

Mileena: -Queen Sheeva does not trust me. No Shokan has since Kotal's bloody battle with Goro.

Past Jade: Sheeva's always respected your opinion more than anyone's. When she hears you support Mileena, she'll join us.

Kitana: You can't be seriously siding with that freak-

Luna: Watch your mouth! The fact mom was more loyal to dad than you were speaks for itself!

Mileena places a hand on her daughter.

Mileena: Enough. Just get it done.

Kitana: If that is my duty, so be it.

Kotal: Thank you, Princess. Kotal walks up the steps of the temple and takes his leave.

Mileena: Daughter, I want you go with Kotal and Jade to make sure Kotal does not do nothing reckless.

Luna: Yes, mother.

Luna and Jade walk off. Mileena was about to do so as well when Kitana spoke up.

Kitana: How did you gain Y/N love?

Mileena turns to her.

Mileena: So, it is jealousy then. If you wish to know, I done nothing but give love and trust to the man.

Kitana: Since when have you been so calm?

Mileena: I've always been clam. When I was first created and I called you sister, I meant it, and I actually wanted to be a family but instead you attacked me, which I do not blame you. Seeing a copy of yourself is baffling enough.

Kitana looks at Mileena as she looks back at her.

Mileena: Now go speak with Queen Sheeva and return once it's done.

Kitana was about to walk off when Mileena stopped her.

Mileena: And one more thing. If you try anything with my husband or daughter, I will kill you, skin you alive, eat you, and any remaining pieces that are left I will put salt on it and finish. Do you understand?

Kitana reluctantly nods as Mileena smiles.

Mileena: Good. Now you can leave.

Soon after, the wastelands of Outworld, a barren desert filled with nothing but rocks, sand and dead trees. A scouting party mounted on some horses as they walk through the desert. Luna, Kotal and past Jade travel on horseback as well, Kotal on a steed with the same color as his blue war paint, while Jade travels on a brown horse the same color as her clothing.
