Rebecca's Pov

The end of the night, we should say goodbye
But we carry on while everyone's gone

I do not know how or why they are in my house. It's been a while since I left New York, and I did not tell anybody I was back in Oregon. So, will anyone tell me how Taylor and her family and friends are having a grill fest in my backyard with my family? We had already said goodbyes, which was the end of our story.

I didn't mean to sound mean, but I'm just surprised. But it seems we are still carrying on. Her face fell at my question, and my mum immediately stepped in. "Don't be rude, Rebecca." Which got me pouting. Since when did they get so close?

"Sorry. I'm just surprised, that's all." I mumble an apology and head over to greet the group.

Never felt like this before
Are we friends, or are we more?
As I'm walking towards the door
I'm not sure

I had never felt like this before. Is it something she does for friends that she flies to Oregon, or we're more than that than I know? Now that I'm walking towards them, I'm not too sure anymore.

Before I can get far, I'm stopped by two kids clinging to my legs and one jumping in front of me. "Aunty Becky! Aunty Becky! We missed you!"

"Why did you go away?"

"Your house is so pretty!"

"Can you carry me?"

My head swivels around to give them the attention they need, but a girl can only do so much. Everyone laughed, looking at how lost I was dealing with the three very excited kids. Luckily, Blake quickly steps in to grab her kids while I bend down to grab Betty in my arms.

"James, Inez! Get back here. Stop harassing Aunty Becky!" she hurried over and hugged me before pulling the two reluctant kids away from my legs.

With Betty in my arms, I join them at the dining area. "I did not go away, James. I just... went on a holiday. Yup, holiday."

Austin snorts at my attempt to break it to the kids. "Holiday escapes out of town" earns him a slap from Andrea and a huff from Taylor, whom I've still not decided how to talk to. I'm not sure if I want to either.

Rolling my eyes, I settle beside Tree and greet everyone at the table. "Hello, everyone, it's been a while." I pull Tree into a one-arm hug.

"Yeah, you didn't even tell me you're leaving." Andrea narrows her eyes at me with a tiny smile on her lips.

Huffing out a laugh, "Because I won't be able to leave if I see you. I love you too much to do that."

"Wow. That says a lot. Thank you." Tree sass back.

Pushing her slightly with my shoulder, "Oh shush, you're working with America's royalty. You're tough."

"Hey! I heard that." Taylor protests lightly, a small smirk on her face when I include her in our conversation.

The dinner was light and chill; chatters went around the table, most directed to me, catching up on the few months we've missed each other. I didn't realize they were planning something as everyone left the table individually.

I only realized when my Mom stood up to leave the table. "Where- where are you going? Where did everyone go?" I looked around, bewildered.

"It's time to listen to your heart, honey. Do not be mean." My Mom squeezes my shoulder once and heads in.
