In 1901, Hydrus and Lepus successfully declared independence after multiple revolts from 1890 to 1899 in 1901. we were recognized as an independent nation. But our brothers in canis tried to revolt in 1901. Ursa had prepared for this and managed to keep a tight grip on Canis.

After negotiating with Orion, the newly freed Hydrus and Lepus created an alliance. The dragon compact. Which was made to liberate Canis. Orion provided aid to the new alliance. And Ursa responded with war.

After months of preparing on both sides, the dragon compact was ready to act. Hydrusite and Lepun forces were to land in Northern Canis while Orion began to creep up the bowstring isthmus.

1902. The landings had begun.

I kiss the picture of my mother as we ride in a new V lighter. An invention made to protect us from gunfire. 300 men fit in each boat. They're powered by motors as well. When you look up, you can see the ursans fortified in the hills. And We get closer and closer.

"TWENTY SECONDS!" My officer yells.

Some soldiers puke, and others are shaking. The waters slam against the door and walls.  We've been shelling the ursans for days but haven't been able to break them.

"TEN SECONDS LADS!" Our officer yells.

A rain of gunfire comes upon us. Everyone ducks down shrapnel and bullets whizz by our heads.

"This is the lands your Canisian brothers have fought and died for! Don't let the fighting be in vain! Fight in their names. Steel yourselves, lads!!" Our officer yells as we approach land.

A loud thump is heard, then a screech the boats have hit land. Our officer yells once more.

"THIS WAR WILL NOT END US! STAND FOURTH!"

The doors slam down, and we run forward. The front row of men die instantly.

"OVER THE SIDE!" Someone yells

I jump over the sides and sink down, slowly drowning. I take off my backpack and shovel and swim up and  spit out water as I swim to land.

The sea is full of bodies, and the water runs red. I run up and jump in a crater as I grab my rifle and cock it.

"Those bloody ursans won't stop shooting! We need covering fire!" The soldier next to me yells.

"There's no way up! Hold the position and wait for the second wave. Most of the first wave are fucking dead!" Someone else yells.

A loud sound is heard from one of our battleships, along with the second wave of Infantry.

After 30 or so seconds the battleship begins to shell the ursan position. And our second wave lands.

"Go go! It's our chance!" Someone yells.

I run out the crater, and so do many other soldiers as we approach the ursan position.

"Foward lads! Let's move!" our officer yells.

We managed to make it to the mountain and rush into a large trench line running up the mountain.

A group of ursans meet us as we approach forward. We lift our rifles, and so do they.

And we shot first.

One of ours died, but we killed the rest of them. One of them tries to crawl away, but our officer shoots them dead.

"We're almost up, boys!" Someone yells.

We push up the ursans retreat and set up a defense at the top of the hill.

As we get up, a wave of gunfire hits us. I watched 3 men fall, and they didn't even get the chance to see it coming.

I drop behind cover and cock my rifle then aim and fire just as I was trained to.

"THROW GERNADES!" Our officer yells.

So we do. And with a large explosion the ursan position begins to crumble.

"CHARGEE!" Our officer yells.

We go bayonet first into the ursan lines and the ursans respond quickly and soon we engage in hand-to-hand combat.

I jab my knife repeatedly into a ursan and kick him down as I watch him struggle to get away.

It makes my stomach twist to watch him yell and cry. And then a ursan charges at me.

It's either him or me and I made sure it was him.

I tackle him down as bring my knife down in his neck another kicks me off him and points his rifle at me.

Before he can pull the trigger a large splatter of blood hits my face. The ursan falls dead and my officer picks me up.

"Don't worry lad I got you!"

I pick my rifle up and walked forward and realize the ursans are falling back to their final defense.

"Hold here. I got a plan, boys.

Our officer hands a paper to a soldier and orders him to run to the battleship. The soldier does so. After 6 minutes a large barrage of artillery hits the ursan position our officer points to the ursans and yells.

"Now give them steel lads!"

We run up the hill charging at the ursan lines. We make good gains but once the ursans come back to thier senses they begin to pummel us.

And then another wave of our boys charge towards the ursans.

More and more join in and we push into breaking the ursan lines. I shoot a ursan on a machine gun and run forward as we take over the ursan position. The last ursans are set up in a cabin holding position.

"Cease fire!" Our officer yells.

He walks forward and says.

"You've lost. Surrender and you might live. Fight and I guarantee your death." Our officer yells at the ursans.

The ursans officer yells back.

"Go fuck yourself."

Our officer steps back and sighs.

"Open fire." He says.

Everyone begins to shoot into the cabin and you can hear screams and yelling from inside the cabin. Two ursans run out and try to shoot but are quickly cut down.

After a minute of nonstop gunfire, we walk inside the cabin.

The walls are stained with blood and the ursans are definitely dead. Their bodies are disfigured and full of holes.

Some soldiers stick their bayonets into their bodies to ensure their dead.

After we finish checking we
walk out and look to our officer.

"Attention!" He yells.

Everyone lines up and looks at him.

"Today we have shown the ursans our might And we have pushed them out of this land with our combined strength we will win this war. And we will free our brothers!"

"We're gonna kick some ursan ass!" Someone yells.

"Your damn right," Our officer says with a smile.

"Now go take your rest boys you deserve it." Our officer says.

We began to clean our trenches. Throwing out bodies and cleaning the blood.

We will continue our work. Until Canis is free.
