Part 8

My dad yells out "TAKE COVER!" as he holds my mom and me behind him in protection.

The wand continues to go crazy and Mal goes to grab the wand from Jane. "Carefull Mal!" I shout to her. She manages to grab the wand.

Ben moves in front of her. "Mal, give me the wand."

"Stand back."

"It's okay."

"Ben, I said stand back!"

"I told you so!" Audrey walks forward. Mal turns to her and she stops in her tracks. Mal turns back to Ben. The other vk's are now standing behind Mal.

"Let's go!" says Carlos.

"Revenge time." Jay says.

"You really wanna do this?" My brother asks Mal.

Mal seems to be on the verge of tears. "We have no choice, Ben! Our parents.."

"Your parents made their choice. Now you make yours."

Mal lowers the wand a bit and looks Ben in his eyes. She then looks at my parents and me. I look her in the eyes and shake my head in a 'don't do it' way. She then let's out a tiny sigh and looks back at Ben.

"I think I wanna be good."

"You are good!"

"How do you know that?!"

"Because... Because I'm listening to my heart."

Mal lowers her gaze and her breathing gets calmer. "I want to listen to my heart, too." She looks at Ben again and lowers the wand completely. She then turns to the other vk's. "And my heart is telling me that we're not our parents." She looks at Jay. "I mean stealing doesn't make you happy. Tourney and victory pizza with the team makes you happy."

She looks at Carlos. "And you, scratching Dude's belly makes you happy. Who would've thought?" She laughs.

She then looks at Evie and becomes a bit teary eyed again. "And Evie.. You do not have to play dumb to get a guy or girl. You are so smart." Evie smiles and a tear runs down her cheek.

Mal sighs. "And I don't want to take over the world with evil. It doesn't make me happy." A tear runs down her cheek now too. "I want to go to school. And be with Ben."

I glance over at Ben and see him look up. Mal turns around to face him. "Because Ben makes me really happy." She holds up her hand, showing Ben's ring that she's still wearing.

The crowd 'aww's.

Mal turns back to the vk's. "Us being friends makes me really happy. Not destroying things." She holds out her fist. "I choose good you guys."

"I choose good, too." Jay joins, putting his fist next to her's.

"I choose good." Evie joins in too.

"So, just to be clear, we don't have to be worried about how really mad our parents will be?" Everyone laughs. "Because they're going to be really, really mad."

"Your parents can't reach you here." I say stepping forward.

"Okay then." Finally Carlos joins in too with his fist. "Good."

Mal looks over at Ben. "Come on." She signals for Ben to join in, too. Ben smiles and steps forwards, putting his fist against the others. Mal smiles and leans against Ben.

Then suddenly there is a really loud 'SWOOSH' and everyone ducks down, looking up to see what it was.
