Teagan

"So, we should probably call your parents and tell them about.. all this." Tobin commented.
I looked at Eli, who was in the middle of me and Alex in the car, allowing me to rest my foot on his lap.
He looked back at me, with a look that said, 'don't worry, I got this.'
I nodded, letting him tell the lie he was about to tell.
Alex saw our little interaction, and gave me a weird look.
I gave her a smile as Eli spoke. "We don't have our phones on us."
"That's okay. Do you know their number?" Alex asked.
"Well, yes, but they're on a trip. In.. The Grand Cayman Islands." He lied, adding the last part quickly.
"I thought you said they were working, Teagan?" A confused christen questioned.
"They are! In The Grand Cayman Islands. Work trip."
"Oh. Well then who's staying with you?"
Jesus, so many questions.
"Our uncle."
"Do you know his number?"
"No."
"You don't know your uncle's phone number?"
"Do you?"
She stopped speaking for a second, thinking about what I had just said.
"Good point." She finally spoke.
A laugh was heard throughout the car, coming from all players and children.
We finally pulled up to the parking lot of the hospital, soon enough.
Eli helped me out while Alex got my crutches.
I thanked her once she handed them to me.
Tobin helped me walk into the building, but I just wanted Eli. I knew he could comfort my fear of hospitals.
---
The trip to the hospital was anything but quick.
We were there for hours, and by the time we left, it was already dark out.
In the hospital, I had to get an X-ray on my ankle, even though everyone who saw it knew it was broken.
It was put into a cast all the way up to my shin, and it would stay like that until I got a boot in 6 weeks.
It thankfully wasn't that bad of a break.
And with the U16 World Cup this fall, I can't risk any more injuries. I need to play.
I held Eli's hand the whole time, since I have bad history with hospitals.
I knew the three women noticed this behavior, but thankfully they didn't say anything.
"So, where do you guys live?" Tobin asked once we got in the U.S. Soccer rental car, driving this time.
I decided not to lie and just tell her the truth, since I knew the beating would only get worse the later we came home.
"215 Rothworthy Ave."
She put it into the gps, and we were off.
The ride was peaceful, everyone wrapped up in their own minds, until Eli whispered to me, his voice full of concern.
"Teags, your eye."
"What about it?" I whispered back.
"The makeup is rubbing off."
