DA'VINA
"Okay so anytime I'm stuck on a problem imma text you." I say making Jacob laugh.
"That's fine." He said stealing a fry from my Chick-Fil-A box.
"Hey!" I said slapping his hand.
He shrugged. "Tutoring payment." He said.
Jacob and I decided to go get lunch after I'd taken my test. I passed with a B and that's better than what it was. Finally, something that could get my mom and dad off my back.
"So besides math, what are you into?" I ask him.
"Well I play hockey and I wrestle." He said shrugging. "Nothing too serious."
"Hockey and wrestling are both serious sports." I say nudging him.
He smiled. "I only play hockey cause my grandpa and dad wouldn't stop bugging me about it. I started when I was five and never stopped." He said. "What about you? What are you into?"
"I used to be on the dance team but I'm— I didn't try out this year." I tell him.
"Why?" Jacob asked.
"I got distracted."
"With your boyfriend?" Jacob asked pointing to my phone. "His name kept popping up. I peeped the heart." He said.
I swallow my saliva and take a sip of my lemonade.
"We're not together. I don't think so. I don't know." I said confusing myself.
"It's okay. I get it. I broke up with my girlfriend two weeks before I had to move." Jacob said. "It was hard on both of us." He said.
"I want to be with him but I don't know, our focus is on two different things." I tell Jacob. "Plus he's about to leave to Connecticut." I say shrugging my shoulders.
Jacob sighed, "Doesn't mean you have to end things with him." He said.
"Wait.. if you like me why are you encouraging me to stay with my boyfriend?" I ask confused.
Jacob looked at me and flashed a charming smile.
"I do like you but you're clearly in love with this guy." He said. "It was easy for me to move on from my past because I know I'm not going back to Montana anytime soon and I have no interest in a long distance relationship. But, who's to say you and him can't work it out?" Jacob asked making me think about the future.
The possibility of Devin and I working on our relationship whiles hours away. Well literally have to book flights to see one another. I think that would test us to see how much we really care about our relationship.
I have other things to focus on than a relationship. I'm young, real love will come when I'm ready. Not saying I don't love Devin but that doesn't mean we need to date right now.
