CHAPTER TWENTY SEVEN: THE KISS

3rd person pov!

the two pulled apart for a second, breaths heavy and entangled. smiles spread across both their faces as keita ran a hand down the side of her face. "you're beautiful." he breathed with an affectionate smile on his face. blushing, akari looked down. "you're such a flirt, terazono keita."

"only for you." he smirked and kissed her again.

at this point, akari was feeling so many things at once. happiness, butterflies, anxiety, and most of all, she was grateful that she had keita. her face was burning, and she looked away from the boy, trying and failing to say something. keita laughed softly, different from his usual loud laugh, a sound that was music to her ears.

"alright, we should walk back to the ward. the doctors will be wondering what's happening." akari said, trying to change the topic.

"who cares about the doctors? i wanna spend more time with you..." keita pulls her back in. she happily relents and buries her head in the crook of his neck, and it fits there perfectly like two pieces of a puzzle.

they stay there silently for a while, just enjoying each others' presence. keita runs a hand through akari's hair, making her look up.

he then took the chance to steal another kiss. this time, it was long and lingering, and sweet. she smiled as he tasted chocolate on his lips.with her head still tilted up towards keita, she looked at him. his eyes. his smile. everything about him was beautiful.

keita looked back down in the exact same way - lovingly. a silent conversation happened between the two as they sat under the stars, in each others' arms. akari tightened her arns around him and pulled him close, hummimg "i like you" (one of his very own works) softly. keita was slightly surprised.

"you... you know this song..?"

"of course, keita. why would i not? your songs are all so good, of course i have to listen to them. it's your hard work, and i should support you. even if a song you made was bad, i would support you. its a step in learning anyway."

keita's heart filled with warmth at akari's words. she was always so supportive, so caring. and he loved it. he loved every part of her. unable to say anything,
he just wrapped her in a warm hug.

and they stayed like that for as long as possible.

(until they knew the nurses would be upset with them for getting back late, that is.)
