Sonic's regret (angst)

Part 7: Finally safe

"Guys, I'm so sorry. I wasn't fast enou—" Sonic's words trailed off as he collapsed, the extent of Eggman's damage finally taking its toll.

Amy and Rouge, now able to move again, rushed to support Sonic, determined to get him the help he needed. Tails and Knuckles followed closely behind, united in their resolve to stand by their friend's side, no matter the cost.

As the doctor sprang into action, Sonic was rushed into the emergency room, his friends anxiously waiting outside. Knuckles winced as the doctor tended to his broken arm, his jaw clenched with pain but relief flooding through him as the bone was set back into place.

Meanwhile, Tails' injured tail was carefully tended to, the doctor working diligently to ensure it would heal properly. Amy and Rouge, though shaken by their ordeal, were relieved to find that their injuries were minor, with only a few scratches and bruises to show for their harrowing experience.

As the doctor worked tirelessly to care for their friend, Sonic's friends remained by his side, offering words of encouragement and support as they waited for news of his condition.

Days passed, and he finally regained consciousness, his first thoughts consumed by the well-being of his friends. "Ouch, my head," he muttered, pushing himself up.

The doctor, taken aback by Sonic's sudden awakening, attempted to calm him. "You're not in a good state, Mr. Sonic. You should relax," he insisted, but Sonic paid him no heed.

Ignoring the doctor's caution, Sonic leaped out of bed and raced to find his friends. Bursting as usual into Tails' workshop where he found them.

"Sonic!" they exclaimed in unison, rushing to his side and enveloping him in a group hug
As Sonic reunited with his friends in Tails' workshop, emotions ran high, each one grateful to see him alive and well.

Tails, overcome with guilt, blamed himself for Sonic's injuries. Tears streamed down his face as he confessed, "It's all my fault, Sonic. You got stabbed because of me."

Sonic pulled Tails into a tight hug, reassuring him, "No, Tails, don't worry about it. I'm fine now."

Next, Sonic checked on Knuckles, relieved to find his friend's hand on the mend.
"How is my bro's strong muscles" sonic said to knuckles offering him a fist bump
"As good as new" knuckles said jokingly fist bumping him back
Turning to Rouge, Sonic inquired about her injuries"any broken bones?"She replied with her usual sass, assuring him, "No broken bones, I'm as beautiful as always." Sonic chuckled and hugged her, grateful for her safety.

Finally, Sonic approached Amy, who was visibly shaken. With a gentle touch, he lifted her chin, meeting her tear-filled eyes. "Hey, Ames, what's wrong?" he asked softly.

Amy poured out her fears, admitting, "I was so scared I'd lose you."

Sonic's heart swelled with affection as he reassured her, "No, I will always be by your side." He enveloped her in a warm hug, feeling her heartbeat against his chest.
She sniffled, overcome with gratitude, and whispered, "Thanks, Sonic. You're the best

For Sonic, the pain and exhaustion melted away in the warmth of their embrace, replaced by an overwhelming sense of gratitude and love for the friends who had stood by him through it all. And as they laughed and cried together, Sonic knew that no matter what challenges they faced in the future, they would always find strength in each other's company.but he still hides his secret of murdering that criminal from them.

Meanwhile, back in his lair, Eggman nursed his wounds and seethed with rage. Spitting out the blood that Sonic's punches had drawn, he clenched his fists in determination.

"I'll be back, hedgehog," he vowed, his voice dripping with venom. "And next time, I'll have a better plan."

With a sinister grin, Eggman began plotting his next move, fueled by a burning desire for revenge against Sonic and his friends. Little did they know, the battle was far from over, and darker challenges lay ahead on the horizon. But for now, Sonic and his friends could savor the peace and camaraderie they had found in each other's company, knowing that together, they were stronger than any enemy that dared to stand in their way.
