Ryujin didn't exactly live in the fanciest area of the city, but considering it all, she had it pretty good. Seoul was big and there she had access to anything she might need. Even if their apartment was small. With the apparent rise in crime over the last years, it wasn't exactly the best of options to walk around by herself while it was dark outside. And yet she didn't have much of a choice. Her newspaper duties had her running late and she was still a subway ride and walk away from home. She didn't exactly own a car or had a ride.
Honestly, she would just put on her headphones and ignore the world around her. If she kept her head down, people barely noticed her. A trick she had learned long ago in school.
Walking to the subway, she noticed a man walking past her, his behavior looking suspicious. As if he was paranoid, his eyes glancing everywhere and taking in everything around him. It was strange for sure but he walked past her without an issue so she brushed it off.
That was until she felt it, just like she had the previous weeks. Goosebumps all over her arms, warning her that something was wrong. What? She didn't know. But she could feel it all over her skin.
Slowing down, she slowly pulled down her headphones that continued to blast some song she had been listening to. Her instincts telling her something was wrong, she just needed to figure it out.
Her eyes scanned her surrounding but there was nothing there, although Ryujin noticed that the strange man wasn't behind her. Did he even have time to walk out of her field of vision? Did he walk into a building?
That's when she heard it. The muffled scream of someone in desperate need of assistance.
Her headphones were around her neck, resting there while music still played through them. Making a choice to put her hoodie up as she started to investigate. Surely if she were to become a witness to a crime, she wouldn't want the criminal to recognize her.
Slowly she made her way towards the alleyway nearby. Noticing two figures struggling, as if they were fighting and one of them had been winning.
"Help." she could hear it, barely but the call for her help was there. Making the other person turn their head.
That's when her instincts kicked in, her hand going up in panic at the sight of someone being attacked and the perpetrator looking her way. Her hand immediately shooting a web, one that fell short, flopping to the ground between her and the figures ahead.
"Shit. Come on, don't fail me now." she whispered to herself, watching as the other person started to make their way towards her.
She had no idea what she was doing, grabbing a hold of something besides her. Which turned out to be some piece of trash made out of steel. It immediately stuck to her hands, making it impossible for her to let go of it.
Fuck, she was about to die while glued to trash in some dirty alleyway.
The tall person got close to her, although she couldn't see their face since they wore a mask. Their hand holding a knife, ready to attack at any moment. Had they stabbed the person on the floor?
"Little girl, go home." the man warned, his voice deep and filled with anger. She clearly had ruined his plans to hurt that person, interrupting in the middle of the act.
Ryujin took a step back, hesitating to hold her position as he approached her. Her eyes focusing on the knife reflecting the little light there was.
"Stop." she warned, her voice failing her while she tried to make it sound deeper. Her eyes peaking from behind the piece of steel she was using as a shield.
