Neil walked in. He said, "Slept well?" then laughed as if he knew she hadn't. He moved around her to undo the halter, and - oh no, is he going to - it came loose, and she fell to the floor in a heap, landing on her leg. She grunted breathlessly and glared, panting, up at him. What did he want?!
Crouching down, Neil wrapped his arm around her waist and slid his other hand up her shirt, and Marilynn bucked. She wasn't going to let her body be manhandled! He laughed and moved to take her top off but she brought her legs back and kicked him in the face. She rolled away, and he yelled, "Ashlee!"
The woman shuffled in, looking as if she had just woken up, and quickly took the scene in. "Make her cooperate," Neil demanded, pointing at Marilynn.
"You want to have any say in what happens to you, let him touch you," Ashlee, the woman, stated, and her mind tore in two. Ashlee turned out to be her salvation as well when she said, "Actually..." She turned to her partner in crime. "I know a way we can put her to work," she said, then to Marilynn, "How about this. You wash all our dishes and we'll let you eat and drink." Seeing her clench her thighs, Ashlee added, "And use the bathroom. Well?"
She nodded, and the woman knelt down to untie her legs. Neil shot Marilynn a glare before exiting; she could hear him stomping up the stairs. The ropes left heavy marks in their place; some of them were bloodstained from where they touched her thigh. Finally, all the ropes fell off, and a deep aching settled into her bones.
Nonetheless, she stood up wobblily, unclipping the gag and throwing it to the floor along with the rubber ball. She limped after Ashlee into the kitchen, where patches of sticky syrup clung in splatters to the side of cupboards, the oven smelled of grease, and crusty dishes filled the sink. To think that she had just escaped this fate. She closed her eyes, taking a few breaths before she opened them again.
Ashlee pointed at the buried sink. "Wash those is all. Unless you can figure out the dishwasher. Soap's under the sink." She rattled a box of crackers, then crunched one mordantly. "You can have whatever's left of these if they're done and clean by the time I come down." She then left, leaving Marilynn alone in the filthy kitchen.
