Jake

Athena hasn't been around lately and it's making me worry. I know I shouldn't have to worry about my neighbor, but recently Athena has been meaning something to me and I don't want to lose her.

I heard her leave early this morning and she hasn't come back yet. I went outside stepping on the stool to look over the fence, she wasn't outside. I looked over at her garden noticing that some of her flowers were dying. I didn't want them to die.

I looked back towards my house making sure Johnnie wasn't around before I quickly jumped over the fence. I walked around her yard till I found a watering can filling it up with water. I watered every plant that was outside from her backyard to the front of her house. I was just hoping no one would call the cops on me.

"Jake! What the fuck are you doing?"

I froze before turning around and seeing Johnnie shining a light towards me.

"I was just watering her flowers." I admitted awkwardly

"Did she give you permission to do it?"

I sighed "No, I'm just worried about her."

"I get it Jake, but if someone notices you in her yard they're going to tell her." Johnnie warned

He was right I shouldn't have been in her yard in the first place, but that doesn't mean I was going to stop worrying about her. I haven't tried to text or call her cause when I tried to before she just ignored me.

I looked back at her house before setting the watering can on the porch and followed Johnnie back into our house like nothing happened.

The next morning I stopped over at Athenas flore shop to see if she was there and buy her flowers.

"Hi, how can I help you?" A girl asked

She was short with red hair and green eyes, she looked younger then Athena.

I smiled "I was wondering if Athena was here?" I asked hopefully

The girl frowned before shaking her head "I'm sorry, shes gone."

"Gone? What is that supposed to mean?" I asked

"I can't say, she asked all of her employees to keep quiet about it."

"Please you have to tell me." I needed to come up with a lie "I'm her boyfriend and I'm really worried about her."

"Athena never told us about you, but just don't tell her or anyone else."

I quickly nodded my head.

"She's been staying at a friend's house for a bit, her cat Arlo died and she's been really upset about it. Since it was her childhood cat you know."

I can't believe she didn't say anything to me. She knew that I would be there for her if anything happened.

"Thanks for telling me." I slightly smiled at the girl "Can I buy two bouquets?"

"Of course any specific type of flowers?" She asked starting to grab different flowers

"All of Athenas favorites, please."

She laughed while smiling "Isn't she one lucky girl."
