Espio darted across the water. he snuck behind a sensor. he had heard of the demon who impersonated Sonic. he knew he only had one shot to get away and find enough help to fight back, otherwise one slip is enough to cost his life. and he would become a servant to hell. all he had to do was find the master emerald for hints, and the chaos emerald, he had heard most of the 8 were found. only 1 left. he had to find it.
he clinged to a wall, performing the triangle jump as he navigated the shrine. he knew that there was some secrets to EXEclaw, EXEzar and MutanX in the shrine. there would be some clues to help the good guys win the battle.
he darted across the mine field in minutes. her backflipped into the wall, then he threw a roped dagger onto the highest wall, to which he went straight towards.
after wall running across to the top of the ledge, he frontflipped onto the floor, then landed perfectly.
''alright. there secrets of EXEclaw's blood line must be somewhere'' Espio quietly spoke, as he tiptoed around the room of spears. he turned invisible and moved across the spear room without setting any booby trap. [he he, booby]
Espio eventually found the scroll that would give the answers as to what and who EXEclaw was.
''i did it! wait... what?'' Espio cheered, before realizing it's locked. the key was to be found.... but it wasn't a key.... but what was the key if it wasn't shaped like a real key. it was shaped....
like a ring.
Espio looked around. there were not any rings in sight. he simply shrugged and decided it was a problem for another time. for now, he had to find the master emerald so he can try to unlock the secrets. it wasn't his thing, breaking into temples for ancient artifacts, but he knew he had to do it because the fate of the world was in his, and possibly other survivor's, hands. there would still be time if he did come back.
but as he exited the temple freely and easily due to all the booby traps having been set off earlier, he felt.... a precense. it was EXEclaw. and not just EXEclaw, it was his guardians.
''impressive. most impressive. you found the scroll to the secrets of my lineage.'' EXEclaw smirked. ''the one thing you are missing.... is the key''
''what is the key, demon?'' Espio stood firmly, albeit trembling a bit in EXEclaw's presense.
[play the song]
''that's for you to find out. but there are two ways to open. i can't spoil the other.'' EXEclaw chuckled. ''but before you leave... i must give you a gift.... IT'S TO DIE FOR!''
EXEclaw then laughed like Klefka and charged open claw first. Espio quickly moved in time.
''admit defeat, bastard. i killed the crocodile and bee who's names i forgot. i'm bad with names. all i'm saying is, THERE'S ALMOST NO WAY TO BRING THEM BACK'' EXEclaw's pupils flashed red as he smirked a toothy smile saying those words.
however, the word 'almost' gave Espio a spark of hope he could bring Vector and Charmy back.
he kept the fight up as he ran along, countering all of EXEclaw's hits. whenever EXEclaw threw a dark blast, Espio used leaf swirl as a means to get away. whenever EXEclaw's guardians attacked, Espio used his ninja abilities to dodge them at all costs. EXEclaw may be using his full power [in his base form], but he was still going easy on Espio, as he valued a challenge.
eventually, Espio hid. he turned invisible to get away from EXEclaw, knowing if he keeps on fighting, EXEclaw will figure a way to counterattack them.
[stop the song]
he darted across the water, and eventually, he smoke bombed and lept high enough to attach his tongue to angel island. [yes, he's a chameleon, he can use his tongue like that]. afterword, the scroll, which was still in his possession, was glowing brighter the nearer he was from the master emerald. curious, Espio followed the glow, until he arrived at the master emerald. at the same time Blaze had arrived.
''and who might you be?'' Blaze asked.
''Espio. i had an encounter with that demon''
''mine's Blaze. i came here because i have to help my friend Silver save the future from said demon. how'd you find here?''
