Part 14: Back in

Minx POV:

Slowly, I open my eyes, fight where I was. Until realizing I was back at home in Queens. I do my usual with getting up, going to my closet and into the bathroom.

I then head out my room and down the hall. I bang on the girls room. With no answer, I entered to see the room empty. I then walk to the boys and open it, seeing it empty as well. Confusion prints across my face. I head downstairs and outside on the docks, seeing everyone in the river having fun. I see Nova sitting on a wooden crate, laughing as the kids splash each other.

"Why are you up so early?" I say as I sit next to her on the crate.

"Oh don't know, we all woke up at the same time, couldn't go back to sleep. So I thought that we could play in the river" Nova says as she continues looking at the kids.

"Why didn't you wake me up?" I say as I stare at her.

"Didn't want to disturb your sleeping. You looked so peaceful" Nova says with a smile. I smile as well. We continue to watch the newsies having fun in the water. Couple of hours went by and it was now 10 A.M. I sit in my office at my desk, looking at papers. As I was thinking, there was a knock on the door.

"Come in" I say as I continue looking at the paper in hand. Upon hearing what I said, Nova enters the room, out of breath.

"J-Ja-a..." She says in between breaths.

"What?" I say as I look at her confused. She takes a couple of seconds to calm down.

"I-it's J-Jack... He's here..." Nova says. I slowly get up and off my seat and head out towards the balcony. I look down and see Jack standing there, surrounded by my newsies who stared angrily at him.

"What in the world is he doing here...?" I say to myself. I then walk out of my office room and downstairs, into the docks.

"What are you doing here?" I say. Everyone steps aside, as I walk up to Jack. Anger printed on my face.

"Minx.. Look I know you're angry but here what I'm about to say" Jack says as he looks at me. I look back with a cold stare, but give him a small nod.

"We used Pulitzer printing press to print out papers about the strike" Jack says.

"Who's we?" I say

"Me, Sarah, David... and Denton" Jack says. I'm am confused.

"Denton... I thought he got reassigned to his old job... being an ace war correspondent?" I say questionably.

"But he didn't" Jack says. "So we need Queens and Brooklyn back in the strike"

"No. How do I know to trust you again?" That you won't betray us again?" I say as I stare him down.

"Please Minx... without Queens and Brooklyn... there won't be enough of us.." Jack says, slightly begging me to join.

"I'll talk with my second in command" I say. I then turn around to Nova and pull her arm, walking away from Jack.

"Do I join?" I say quietly for only Nova to hear.

"I think you should" Nova says

"But you know what happened last time" I say.

"And it's a new time. He won't betray us" Nova says as she puts her arm on my shoulder. I look straight into her eyes.

"Plus if you join then it'll make Spot join as well" She says with a smirk.

"Alright" I say as I began walking away to Jack.

"Alright Jack Boy... Queens back in the strike." I say. Everyone starts cheering and Jack smiles happily as he wraps me into a hug. I slowly hug back.

"So what do I need to do?" I say as he lets go of me.

"Well I need you to gather all girls workers and bring them to the Pulitzer building" Jack says. And I nod. He then jogs off the dock heading for Manhattan.

"Alright! We go around Queens, Manhattan and Brooklyn, gather girls workers all around and take them to Pulitzers building!" I tell my newsies. Everyone nods and starts getting things for the trip we were gonna go on...
