For a long time it was just April and Kevin, two siblings that lost their dad in a terrible train accident.
Their fathers death drew them closer and made their mother lose her mind, she felt betrayed, lost, unwated, she didn't believe he died on the train, she believed her husband ran away from her and the children, running away to a new squeeze, he was gone and two children were left alone to bear the brunt of their mothers anger and rage, and for years it was pain fear anxiety attacks numbness cold unwanted unloved hate was given birth to, everything that should not be allowed to exist was now in everyday life, it was disgusting how a house could turn from warm to cold so quickly be alive and die in a heartbeat. Years of being mistreated was eventually going to come out, and no one really wants to face that, see it, talk to it. It did come out in a very almost unnatural way.

April and Kevin were seperated at 14. Their mother was so messed up she was sent to an asylum for the insane, it had taken three police officers to bring her to the ground in the middle of the street.
Kevin was taken into one family and April into another.

At 15 April started a new school. She excelled at sports, running, jumping, swimming, throwing, hockey, basketball, she was even uncatchable when she tried out for the football team and when was was caught and hit she never ever complained, she just laughed and enjoyed the fun she was having. All through her school years her teachers tried to get her to apply herself but she didn't, she felt that she had already proven herself with all the record breaking she did in her teens.
As soon as she had finished her school years she went to find Kevin but he was gone.
"What do you mean he is gone, gone where"? asked April.
"He has been running away for years, even when we locked him up..." replied Daniel Murr, Kevins Guardian.
"You locked him up"? she screamed "you locked up a child, are you kidding me"?
Daniel held up his hand palm forwards "Look Alpril, you have to understand....."
April felt something like an electric current sprinkle her face then her fist went forward into Daniels chest, sending him backwards through the air his ribcage breaking to pieces from the impact, Daniel landed hard in severe pain screaming out through the pain but he couldnt find his voice.
He looked up but April was gone, then he tried to get to the phone in his house.
April knew Kevin wouldn't stay hidden forever, he would come looking for her, he promised, they both did.

April's apartment was small and tidy, it was on the outskirts of the city, she loved the city, you got lost there, you were unseen, no one in the city looked at you, everyone just went on about their own lives, being in the city meant April was free, no one looking for her, no one in the next room, in the same building, in the same street, everyone was a stranger in the city and nobody wanted to know who you were, April felt her life wash away every time she was among the buildings.
As much as she could she would ride the trains whether it was above or underground, the sound of the rails, the sound of the wheels like a heartbeat against steel the constant movement the changing scenery the sky would appear then disappear beind trees and buildings. Da Dum Da Dum Da Dum Da Dum. New faces appeared then vanished at the next station, it was the perfect way to travel. Sometimes April would get off at a random station and just sit there, then walk around the town the station was attached to, visit shops or just watch people.

April found a job at 19 in a gift shop at a Museum in the city, the manager had taken a liking to her and she was always on time, her record was clean, no criminal record, no law breaking, an honest student at school, just the person Mr Sumer was looking for. Very few people ever bought from the gift store and what sold the most was fridge magnets and those 3d type magnets that you had to move your head let and right to see the animals move.

April was one of those people that affected others, she was always getting invites from co workers and before that it was peers at school but April had severe trust issues.

It was a wednesday near closing time when April met Tessa. Tessa she had come into the gift shop and was looking for something for her nephew Tommy.
"We have jigsaw puzzles and early reading books and build a dino, posters, t-shirts etc" suggested April.
"I never knew it was this difficult to pick a gift for a kid" smiled Tessa, her glasses seemed unusually tight to her face.
"Yeah kids minds change so much it can be a challenge keeping up with them"agreed April.
"He likes to draw pictures" mentioned Tessa her shoulders kinda shrugged.
"We have sketch pads" said April who then handed Tessa a new clean and crisp pad.
Tessa reached for it and got a paper cut to her thumb, and blood poured out "Ouch" she said pulling her hand away.
"I am so sorry" replied April apologetically "we have a med kit around here somewhere" April quickly scrambled for the kit and taken out a plaster, Tessa held out her thumb and when April touched it the cut sealed itself up straight away but no one seemed to notice.
April wrapped the plaster around the thumb and kept apologising.
After a few minutes of trying to make light of what happened she asked "Do you still want to buy the sketch pad"? she felt bad for asking but it was a sale.
"Yeah I will take it thanks".
"Again I'm very sorry for that" April again apologised, as she put the sketch pad into one of the gift bags which had a picture of a Dinosaur on it with the letters Philadelphia Museum of History written in gold beneath it.
