Chapter 7 The Weight of Armor

Y/N's POV:

After getting a bit of shut eye, I woke up with it still being night time, probably because I had a full night of rest the previous day.

Y/N: "Might as well go and refill my canteen in the nearby lake."

I walked into the direction of the lake we had discovered yesterday, only to find Keith crouching in the bushes and spying on something.

Y/N: "What's happening?" I whispered while crouching besides Keith and activating my VISR.

Keith: "Look" He pointed towards the river

I looked and saw Trace and Flora having some...private time. At first I found this as weird but when I zoomed in closer, I saw Trace brushing Flora's hair. Keith must have thought the former though... but after a while I saw Flora launch herself at Trace and kiss him.

Y/N: "Damn, I never knew you had that in ya, Flora." I spoke, impressed at her bold move on Trace.

Keith however wasn't so happy about this.

Keith: "This can't be! It's just not right! This goes against the basic principles of every known race! I have to stop them!"

Euchre and I stop Keith from interrupting Flora and Trace's moment

Euchre & Y/N: "No." We both say in unison.

Keith: "You!? What do you mean "no"? Didn't you see what they did? Geh! Can't you see what they're still doing?"

Euchre: "Let them be. I'll talk to Flora later."

Keith: "Oh, yeah? Do you really think you can stop me?"

Y/N: "Keith, think about it. If you loved someone very much, would you love them back despite what people would say? Despite what principles people put between you and your lover?"

That seemed to shut Keith up as he looked down to the ground with sorrow and regret before storming off leaving me with Eurchre. I should apologize to him once this all blows over.

Y/N: "Euchre?"

Euchre: "Yes Y/N?"

Y/N: "Go easy on Trace will ya?"

Euchre: ...

We all ended up going back to bed without any issues.

- [In the morning] -

No one's POV:

Y/N woke up to the smell of fish being cooked by Keith there but he looked sleepless.

Y/N: "Good morning soldier."

Keith: "Um...Good morning, Y/N."

Y/N: "Are you okay? You looked like you hadn't slept the entire night."

Keith: "That would be due to Trace and Flora."

Y/N pat Keith on the back before getting his fish.

- [After breakfast] -

Trace: "Good morning, Keith and Y/N!"

Y/N: "Good Morning you two."

Keith: "Morning, Trace. ...Morning, Flora. We should get moving soon. Do you mind looking over the map with me and Y/N again before we leave?"

Trace: "Sure."

-[later] -

Keith: "So, we'll be leaving Human Territory soon and reach the sea from here."
