The morning sun filtered through the windows of the school's main entrance as I pushed open the heavy doors, leading the way into the building.
The familiar sounds of lockers slamming and students chatting filled the air, but today, something was different. There was a palpable buzz in the hallway, a shift in energy that made my skin tingle.

Behind me, the rest of the group followed, Lucas, Jayden, Travis, Chloe, and Bella. As we walked together, our footsteps in sync, the chatter around us seemed too quiet, replaced by hushed whispers and not-so-subtle glances in our direction. I could feel the eyes on us, a thousand little pinpricks of attention that made the back of my neck prickle with unease. When this is how I was greeted to school, it was always a scandal, most of the time of me, but I can't remember the last time it was about all of us.

"What the hell is going on?" Jayden muttered under his breath, his eyes scanning the hallway as we moved forward.

"I don't know, but it's weird," Bella replied, her voice tinged with curiosity. "Everyone's staring at us."

I caught a glimpse of a group of freshmen near the lockers, their wide eyes locked on me and the others as we passed. I didn't recognize any of them, but they were looking at me like I was some kind of celebrity, which I kind of am, but that isn't the point, It was unnerving.

"Did we do something?" Travis asked, sounding genuinely confused. "I don't remember setting the school on fire recently."

"Wouldn't put it past you," Chloe quipped, but her tone lacked its usual playfulness. She was just as on edge as the rest of us.

As we continued down the hallway, the whispers grew louder, snippets of conversation floating to my ears.
"Look, it's them!"
"Yeah, that's the 'scandalous six!"
"The article was insane..."

Winter's brow furrowed. "The scandalous six?" I echoed, glancing at Lucas, who was walking beside me with his usual nonchalant air. But I could see the tension in his jaw, the way his eyes flicked around the hallway, taking everything in.

Lucas shrugged, but his expression was tight. "I guess that's us now."

Chloe pulled out her phone, her fingers flying across the screen as she quickly searched for whatever the hell everyone was talking about. It only took a few seconds before she found it, her eyes widening as she scanned the screen.

"Oh no," Chloe said, stopping in her tracks. The others paused too, gathering around as she held out her phone for us to see. I leaned in, my heart skipping a beat as I read the headline:

"Meet THE SCANDALOUS SIX: The
Untouchable Royals of NYU academy."

The article was plastered on a local gossip site, complete with pictures of the entire group, some candid, some clearly taken from our social media profiles. The headline was flashy, the kind of thing designed to grab attention, and it had clearly worked. But as Chloe scrolled down, my stomach twisted with a mix of shock and unease.
The article painted us as some kind of elite group, a mix of rebels and royalty who ruled the school with a mix of charm and danger. It highlighted Lucas's reputation as the bad boy, My reckless behavior, Jaydens carefree attitude and Travis as a trouble maker, and Chloe and Bella's undeniable influence. The tone was almost reverent, like we were some kind of untouchable clique that everyone either wanted to be a part of or feared.
