Strawberry Lightning

I lick my lips and smile,
Because on my tongue
Lingers strawberry
And lightning.

I see you at the bus stop
In the sunny morning rain
Like drops of gold from heaven
Falling to kiss you
The same way I did last night;

Or was it eons ago?

Those little red shoes
Carry your feet
As if they were feathers
Gifted by angels,
Crafted just for you to tread upon
As they watch, bleeding
And in love.

God cannot not exist,
Or else it would mean God
Chooses favorites

Of which I alone
would surely be
To have your strawberry lightning on my tongue
From last night.
