I pulled on the doorknob making sure it was locked before exiting my apartment complex. I stepped out of the apartment lobby and into the frigid windy London air. The only downfall about London is the constant coldness and gloomy weather. But don't get me wrong, London does have those rare sunshiny says that I love and crave.

As another gust of windy hits me I yank my brown grey and black TopShop cap tighter to my body and pull my wide brim had down so it shields my eyes from the wind, picking up my pace.

I don't own a car because everything is basically in walking distance from my apartment. I don't mind it at all. I enjoy being able to take those 5-10 minutes by myself taking in the beautiful scenery of the area I live in and take the time to clear my head and emotionally detox from a long day.

Plus the walking is good training for my leg. Although it is good for me to constantly exercise and train my right leg, too much of it can sometimes give me painful blister from my prosthetic. That is the absolute worse. When that happens I can't wear the prosthetic for a while leaving me very insecure and vulnerable.

On Sunday evenings, I usually meet up with my good friend Asmarie Lexington at my favourite cafe spot The Grind to work on different things like our fashion blog or editing videos or just catching up and gossip as girls do.

Approaching the cafe door, I swing my laptop bag over my shoulder stepping foot into the warm store.

"Maya!" the crew boast into their regular greeting for me.

Did I mention I come here a lot?

"Hey guys!" I kindly return the greeting.

"Hi Earl!" I smile at the short 57 year old owner as I came up to the cash register.

"Maya, my beautiful girl! How have you been?"

"I've been good! How has business been?" I ask hoping for the better answer but knew immediately seeing his always present smile fall from his brown skin.

"We are making it, but barely" he confesses with despair in his eyes.

I give him a sympathetic smile.

"Well you know I am always here if you need nything. Just ask." I say as I take my usual order of passion fruit boba tea and place a generous tip in the empty tip jar.

"Thank you my sweet girl." He says

"oh and tell your mother I said hello." Earl gives me a cheeky wink and makes his way to the kitchen.

"I will" I call out to him giggling.

Earl has always had a little crush on my mom ever since he met her after she moved in the are last month.

Earl is such a sweet man. When I first moved here he was kinda the only person who really welcomed me. There was a fatherless shaped hole in my heart and he filled it for me.

I try my best to help him out with his business- I promote it on my channels, make videos about it, send tweets, have meet ups there and more. Sometimes business will flourish but only to die back down shortly after. It's a really nice quaint cafe! The employees are always welcoming and the food is top notch, so it always perplexed me on the lack of productivity it has made.

Sat down at my usual seat by the window, I get out my laptop and start
to work, occasionally sipping on my tea.
