Amity's POV:
The past three days have been pure torture for Amity. Volume 7 of Good Witch Azura just dropped and she's been itching to get it. The problem is the nearest book store over here is a 20 minute walk and that's if the book is even in stock. She doubts that it will be - the franchise is the most popular in the country.
Of course she could check the school library, but she would rather drop dead then be caught looking for and taking a Good Witch Azura book. It may be an adult version now, but to everyone here it's still childish.
Contemplating wouldn't magically bring the book to her, so she reluctantly got up from her desk and hurled her only jacket over herself, a vintage white adidas jacket and put on the parachute pants from the other day, rushing to the door and putting on her crocs.
"You're so shit." Luz said, focused on the game of fortnite she was playing on the TV. "Bro actually suck my dick." She added with gritted teeth.
Addict. She shut the door behind her, locking up. Luz has been addicted to that stupid game ever since she got gifted a PS5 by her mother for not having picked up any behaviour points so far this year, despite it only being 4 weeks into the year.
That made Amity wonder. Was Luz a bad student in her high school? Sure she's a bit of weirdo and can be a creep at times, but she doesn't necessarily come off as harmful. God she really needs a car, walking everywhere is starting to become a huge pain in the ass.
Amity exited campus and continued her walk down the road towards the town centre, where the bookshop is supposed to be. She had her airpods in and was listening to some Mitski, mentally preparing herself for the disappointment that was about to come.
She was certain the book would not be there, it's 10pm on a weekend, all the snotty nosed children have certainly gotten to it by now. If she was lucky there may be one. No, don't think like that - expect disappointment and you won't be disappointed.
Amity closed in on the shop, it being in eye distance now. There was nobody around, it looked like a ghost town. Everyone had probably gone home by now. Meaning all the books were probably gone by now.
She walked into the shop and searched around the isles. It wasn't where it would be. That's okay, maybe it's somewhere else. Amity walked up to one of the workers.
"Excuse me." Amity said, grabbing the employees attention. "Do you know where I could find the newest volume of Good Witch Azura?" She asked.
"I think they've all been sold out. But I'll take a look in the back for you." They responded.
"Thank you." Amity said, the employee walking away.
She knows that she said to expect disappointment to not be disappointed. But she was still disappointed. There's certainly no hope, she knows that any time a worker says 'I'll have a look in the back' it means it's gone and they're only doing it to kill time.
Amity waited as the employee came back empty handed. It was to be expected. Still annoying though - really walked 20 ass minutes out here just to get nothing. She thanked the employee and exited the store, resuming her music and starting her walk back.
It's okay, if it isn't here today then it will be there tomorrow. It's a Sunday, so she will need to go early to avoid all the families using their day off, and if it isn't there she'll go every day after that until she can get her hands on it.
She made the painful journey back to campus, defeated and empty-handed without her beloved book. This series might actually be one of the only things keeping her sane. Whenever she needs to let off some steam she would angrily read this book. Or just do something else (wink wink ykwim).
