Chapter 17: Blue and Pink

Summary: When the day finally comes, Skye is ready to hang out and finally express her feeling but Chase has something bigger in mind.

Skye's POV

I looked at my phone and saw that it was almost 7 pm and was wondering what was taking Chase so long. I was debating on wether I should call him or not. After another 10 minutes of waiting I got a message from Chase telling me that he was outside the girls dormitory. I grabbed my stuff and headed out. When I walked out I saw Chase all dressed up which made me a little flustered. "Hey Skye are you ready to go?" He asked as we headed towards the parking lot of the school. "Wow, what's the occasion for getting all dressed up?" I asked as we continued walking. "Well I did make us reservations at a restaurant so that we can eat and talk." he said as we approached his car. I smiled without saying anything but I'm sure that was more than enough for him to tell I was happy about it. After we got into his car he had placed his paw on my shoulder, "Hey Skye what did you want to talk to me about?" he asked but the entire time I was trying to hide my face due to me blushing. "Uh it really isn't anything big but i'd rather wait until we get settled." I said as he nodded his head and started the car. After about 20 minutes of driving we pulled up to a restaurant that I had never been to before and from the looks of it the place looked fancy. "Wow Chase, I didn't know we were coming to a place like this. If I had known I would've dressed more accordingly." I said as we exited the car. "Relax Skye you look beautiful." He said as we started to walk towards the entrance. Hearing Chase say things like that to me was just so sweet and I feel like this could be the perfect time to tell Chase how I feel. As we entered the restaurant a pup at the front desk offered her assistance. "Yes reservation for Chase Shepherd." Chase said as the pup scanned through the binder in front of her. "Ah yes, Mr. Shepherd your table is ready for you. Please follow me." The pup said as she lead us to a table on the far end of the restaurant. As we got to our table thoughts were running through my head. The pup then handed us some menus and told us that our waiter will be with us shortly. "So Skye what do you plan on ordering?" he asked as I looked over the menu . Soon after looking over the menu our waiter arrived and took our order. After he took our menus I had a strange feeling. I looked up and notice that Chase was slightly staring at me but I was just barely able to notice since he looked away as soon as he noticed me looking back. "Is everything ok?" I asked to try and start a conversation. "Oh yeah, it's just i'm really excited for tonight." He replied with excitement. "Oh well what's so special about tonight?" I asked out of curiosity. "Don't worry, you'll find out before the night is over." He said with a smile. As we continued to talk for a few more minutes our waiter eventually brought us our food and drinks. After we ate our food Chase paid for everything and told me that he had a special gift for me. Once we left the restaurant he told me to wait in the car. Once I got in he went and opened the truck. I couldn't really tell what he was doing or what he was getting but I just sat and waited patiently. Soon Chase told me to close my eyes so that he can get in with the surprise. So after I closed my eyes I overheard Chase getting back in the car along with the sound of something that I couldn't make out. I then hear Chase tell me to open my eyes and when I did I was surprised to see a bunch of roses, a teddy bear, and a small pink box. I was honestly speechless, I really didn't know what to say. "Chase I...I don't know what to say." I mumbled in a soft tone. "It's ok Skye, I know it was a random surprise but I just wanted to do something special for you." He replied while handing me the gifts. He then told me not to open the small box yet because he had one more spot to take me before we head back to the campus. I didn't know what to expect but I just went along with it. After about 15 minutes of driving we arrived at a clearing. I was curious onto why we were here. Once we got out the car he lead me to a cliff side and my eyes widened as I saw a view of the whole campus with the sun setting behind some mountains in the father vicinity. "Wow Chase, this is beautiful. I've never seen anything like this." I said as I glanced back over at the incredible view. We stood in silence for about a minute or two but the silence was eventually broken by Chase. "Hey Skye there's something I have to tell you." He said placing his paw on my shoulder. "What is it?" I asked as I turned to face him. "Well the reason I did all this stuff is because there's something important I wanted to tell you and it has been something that I've wanted to tell you for a long time." He said glaring at the small box in my hand. "We've been friends for a long time and over the years I feel like my feelings for you have grown tremendously. It's gotten to the point where every time i'm around you I get all nervous and flustered and I don't know if you feel the same way but if you don't then that's fine with me, but what i'm trying to say is that I'm in love with you Skye." He said thoughtfully. My mind was blank and I was speechless but something in me couldn't hold back the joy I was feeling and I reacted. I went in and gave Chase a kiss. After a few seconds I felt him press his lips against mine. Never in my life would I have ever felt so happy. After we separated I looked at him and he looked back at me. I smiled and hugged him tight. "You have no idea how long i've wanted to tell you the same thing Chase. I love you too." I said as I felt him hug me back. It was a happy moment for both of us and all we could do is enjoy the moment. I soon then realized I still had the little pink box in my hand and when I glanced at it Chase then told me that I can open it now. I lifted the top of the box and saw a heart shaped necklace on the inside. "Oh my gosh Chase this is so beautiful." I said almost shedding a tear. Just when I thought it was over he told me to look inside the heart. When I did, it revealed a picture of Chase and I together when we were pups still in the Paw Patrol. We both looked at the picture and then looked at each-other. After sharing this beautiful moment we then sat on the cliffside and watched the sun set together making sure to cherish this moment forever.
