Background-
Thalirana te Ronal'ite is the eldest daughter of Ronal and Tonowari of the Metakayina clan of Awa'tulu. She is the future olyeykte of the tribe. She has a younger brother Ao'nung (Next Leader general of the warriors), a younger sister Tseriya (tsakarem) and another sibling along the way. She is 17 years of age and has finished her Iknimaya (Rite of passage) and has a total of 4 tattoos:- along the right hand, right shoulder, left abdomen that runs down to her left thigh and last one on her lower back each signifying an important event of her life (of which, she received three after her return from the travels at sea). She is a skilled warrior and has medicinal knowledge (which she learnt before her younger sister was born). She is a strong leader, kind of stubborn, has tons of sarcasm, lots of ambition and love for her family and tribe. She has had a strong connection with the sea and has a calling beyond the reef.
She is closest to her grandmother out of anyone in the family sharing their sense of strong connection to ewya. Her grandmother dies 7 months before the Sully family arrives on the island. Upon her grandmother's final wishes, she is allowed to cross the reef to find her destiny.
About the clan-
The Metakayiba tribe resides on the island of Awa'tulu, relying on the natural resources provided by the habitat. They live in huts called Marui pods and use sea creatures and boats for travel (ilus and tsuraks as main modes of travel, along with boats and ships for travel beyond the reefs.) The tribes always gather for dinner in the assembly area at the beach near the house of the olyektan. A loving and thriving society, slightly wary of other tribes and cultures (especially sky people). No gender discrimination towards any jobs. People who had finished their iknimaya were allowed to venture beyond the reef for hunting and the ones above 21 were allowed to use boats for longer journeys.
