Kudos to the artist for being amazing and melting my heart. Also this chapter has nothing to do with the fanart I just really like it.
---------------------------------Thranduil woke up before you which was odd because you were usually an early riser. Always wanting to be up to watch the sunrise. Now you had slept in late, the warm blankets holding you in a wonderful embrace.
Slowly you sat up looking at Thranduil at his desk. You rubbed your eyes sleepily. A yawn escaped your lips as you got out of bed, you leaned against the canopy post, catching your balance before continuing on.
"'Quel amrun Silme, ollo vae?" Thranduil turned in his chair, in his usual ash grey pants, silvery tunic, and tall boots. The pin that held the collar of his tunic together was laying on the desk, causing the open collar to revel some of his toned chest. It's spidery appearance glimmered in the fresh morning light and seemed to be the sun itself.
"No," you draped your arms across his shoulders and rested your chin on the top of his silvery hair. Thranduil picked up one of your hands and kissed the knuckles tenderly as if you were made of glass. "Why are you up so early?"
"A king must care for his kingdom, and for his family. You seemed uncomfortable so I got up and let you have the bed for your own."
"In other words I hit you several times with my arm." You giggled into his hair, it smelled sweet and earthy yet distinctly masculine.
"You could say that. Come, sit here, I shall show you the maps." He patted his right thigh for you to sit and you took perch there. Relishing in the closeness, being near him still gave you a rush after many years of marriage.
Thranduil's hands rested on your stomach where a small bump was protruding.
"Our little Ireth is growing so big." He smiled into your shoulder. You placed your hand over his and you felt his sharp chin move to her shoulder.
"Already decided on a name without me have you?" You turned to look at him and he gave you a grin with devilish features laced in it.
"Do you not like the name Ireth? We may change it my Silme." Thranduil turned back to his work on the maps.
"I like it darling, most definitely, I'm just surprised that you did it on your own." You picked at the tearing edges of the yellowed maps.
"Is that supposed to mean something my Queen?"
"Not at all my King." You smiled brightly.
The two of you sat close to each other, he working on his maps, you watching him intently. The father to your new daughter, your beloved husband, your magnificent King, but most importantly your best friend. You always felt that being friends first gave you a certain advantage. He already knew so much about you before you two got married, the two of you had been close since Thranduil was a adolescent. Now this closeness had paid off.
You were being a queen.
