I saw a butterfly today
It had these beautiful and colorful wings
The largest I have probably ever seen
I couldn't help but wonder
What other butterflies thought of it
This larger than life butterfly
Who took up more space than all it's peers
That sparkled the brightest
When its wings caught the sunlight.Surely all the other butterflies must hate it
This butterfly that made them seem smaller
And maybe go unnoticed
I wondered if this butterfly had grown
To hate it's size and looks
Or wished that it was like the other butterflies
Did it try to shrink itself
When in a group of butterflies. It seemed to have none of these worries
It flew from one petal to the next
Basking in the sun and fragrance in the air
It wasn't it's place to reduce itself
To fit into the narrative of anotherLet's be butterflies.
