How do you grieve for something that never happened
When you spend a long time in the dark
A ray of sunshine passing through
Would make the darkness become unbearable
I was used to the dark
I knew each curve and sharp ends and could avoid getting hurt
I didn't realise how dark it had gotten
Because my eyes had become accustomed to it
How do you mourn the loss of something you never had
I wish you could have stayed a little longer
But like a comet
You were only meant to pass through briefly
To remind me what light and warmth feels like.
