"A butter-fingered boy, my D.N.A. was deviated."

{Tyler's P.O.V.}

So, we're in North Carolina. I hate it here. Where we're staying, it's urban. Not many trees. I HATE IT. There aren't a lot of animals.

On another note, I'm going to a new school. That's bad. Really bad! I don't know if I'll be able to talk to anyone. I wish I went to school with animals.

"Tyler! Get up! It's time for school!" My mum yelled from downstairs.

I open my eyes and drag myself through my morning routine. Why? Why does this happen to me? Why? Abusive, horrible parents AND moving. I sigh and crawl down the stairs.

"What took you so long?" My mother then slapped me hard across the face.

I could hear the imaginary audience:
"Ooooo!" Or "Ouch! That must hurt!" But, no. I've gotten used to it. Luckily I'm not like my parents. Their skin bruise like peaches. Weird.

"I love you mother.." I drag.

"Good boy!" Wow. That's the first time I've ever heard her sound even remotely happy towards me. This caused me to raise my eyebrow in suspicion.

She snapped, Why? The world may never know, and stabbed my leg with the knife. She just happened to have a knife in her hand while talking to me. I winced in pain and stagger outside. I take the old rag of our dead dog. Good thing they brought it to our new house. I go behind the house and take off my pants.

Ah!

The gash is huge! I tie the rag around it tightly.

This should hold until school, I think as I pull my pants back on.

I walk out my driveway. I'm staring at a spot in my pants, slowly getting redder. God. I bump into something. It appears that something or someone is blocking my way. I slowly look up. It's a human.

"Erm... Sorry. I don't pay attention very well. I'm-" He keeps speaking but I don't listen.

A human? I go into full panic mode now.

"Hello?" The boy shakes me from my thoughts.

Not a word escapes my lips. I rush past the curious figure and soon, I am at my new school. After 23 wrong turns...

Yet again, I bump into another person. God, I really need to stop!

"Sorry!" An over-confident female voice shoots back at me.

I look up at a girl, with mahogany hair. She reminds me of a bird.

"I'm Amy! National Track Star! I'm pretty sure you're the new transfer student from Oregon. Are there any track teams there?"

I stare at her, shaking madly. Uh, uh, uh....

"DO- YOU- KNOW- WHAT- TRACK- TEAMS- ARE?" Amy says arrogantly.

"Amy, he's from Oregon, not outer space. Hi, I'm Mia. Amy's best friend, she's a bit... Erm..."

Mia seems a bit too nice. And, I've heard that 'erm' before. I wonder....

Just then, a tall boy walked up behind, uh, Mia and gave her a peck on the cheek and a hug.

"I was worried about you this morning! I didn't see yo- Oh, hi!" He then turned to whisper to Mia.

I could hear exactly what he said: "Who's he?"

Mia stepped on his foot and turned towards me.

"This is my stupid-" she nastily glances at him-"brother Marcus. He's an absolute retard! Don't mind him!"

Then, it hit me. Literally. Marcus turned around and his bag hit me in the face. This, Marcus, is 'erm' person. I hope he doesn't bring up this morning.

Suddenly, I feel a jolt in my side and the world is swirling around me.

Everything goes dark.
