I hopped in his car without another word. He shut the door and went around to his side, getting in and starting the car.

He paused, turning to fully look at me. Staring for a few moments before leaning towards me. Reaching for my seatbelt. I held my breath and watched his every move. After clicking the seatbelt, he leaned back and put on his own.

"Where do you live?"

•••

The car ride was silent aside from Kill Bill by SZA playing lowly from his radio.

I crossed my arms, looking out the window at the passing cars.

"You know I could've said the same thing about you, right?" I turned to him and voiced, breaking the silence.

"What?" He questioned, glancing at me.

"You also don't seem like the type you would find at parties." I answered. Model student crashing out at a party doesn't sound right, does it?

He chuckled, "Yeah, cause you know fuck all about me either."

I winced, recalling my earlier outburst. "Why is that?" I asked.

"Hm?" He raised an eyebrow.

"I mean we have all the same classes, and even sit by each other in some. Why is it that we know nothing about each other?" I pondered.

"Don't know. I have my friends, and you have yours. But that's always something we can change." He answered.

I stayed silent and observed him. His deep, ocean blue eyes were focused on the road and his grip on the wheel was firm. I studied his sharp features and silky brown hair, which was a grown out low taper. I never thought Chase looked bad, but I guess I never payed enough attention to see just how good he looked.

"You're fine as fuck." I blurted, staring at him.

He smiled, "Thanks." His eyes never leaving the road.

We arrived at my house a while later and he pulled into the driveway. He hopped out the car and made his way over to my side, opening the door. I unbuckled the seatbelt myself and he held his hand out for me to grab. He pulled me out of the car and led me from behind by my waist to the front door.

He let go of my waist and I turned to him.

"So this is my house."

He nodded. "I would hope so."

"And this is the front door," I said pointing. He eyed me with an amused look. "That I'm about to go through now." I stated.

He didn't respond and we just stood there, staring at one another. The air around me began to feel hot under his intense gaze. He was close, really close. His eyes began to trail down my body, slowly taking in all of my curves before coming back up and stopping on my eyes once again.

I found the strength to break my trance and turned to the door. I pulled the knob and stepped inside, turning to face him once again. I lifted my hand to wave goodbye.

He smiled and nodded at me before I shut the door.

I decided not to go to school the next day because my head was killing me. I could barely even remember anything from that night. Aside from Devin. That memory was still as clear as day. And also, I remembered bits and pieces of my encounter with Chase. Taking me home was very sweet of him even after me being a bitch.

Today was now Thursday and as much as I still did not want to get up for school, I couldn't afford to miss another day.

I got out of bed and went to take a shower before applying my skincare and picking out an outfit. I chose a black Nike hoodie and navy sweatpants with my black Tasman Ugg slippers. I put my mini twists in a  half up half down style and grabbed my backpack, making my way out the door to my unreliable 2004 Honda Accord.

The car is older than I am so I don't know how it's still running. At this point, I'm just waiting for it to give out at any moment. I hop inside and make my way to school arriving just as the bell to first period rang.

I make my way to class and took my seat in the corner next to Brooklyn.

"Where were you at yesterday?" She asked as I took out my laptop and prepared for the lesson.

"Sick." I responded as vaguely as possible. I didn't want Brook to know that I gone to a party without her, especially on a weekday. Or that I had witnessed the most devious act taken by her dear cousin. As much as I wanted to hide the truth, I knew she was going to pry and would probably have me spilling my beans by the end of the day.

She opened her mouth to say something when the teacher walked in, interrupting her.

"Good morning class." Ms. Jenkins said, looking around at her students. " May, glad you could join us today."

I sent a tight smile her way. Why does it feel like all the teachers have it out for me?

She turned and began her lesson, spewing a bunch of math jargon. I absentmindedly glanced around the room, everyone busy with their own things. My eyes landed on Chase near the opposite side of the class.

He was taking notes on the class, focused intently on the teacher.

I found myself observing him in school for the first time. He had his glasses on today and I wondered if he usually wore contacts or if he just did not like to wear glasses often. He looked presentable in every moment I could recall. Always putting forth some sort of effort for each fit.

He looked good. My observation brought back a memory of us in his car where I blurted out something along similar lines. I cringed. Oh my Lord, thats embarrassing.

Brook tapped my shoulder, and I looked away.

"So are you gonna tell me what's really wrong with you?" She whispered, catching my lie.

"I promise I will, just... meet me at my place after school." I caved not wanting to hide the truth any longer.

"Mhm, you know you can't hide anything from me." she murmured, satisfied with her successful interrogation.

I rolled my eyes, smiling. She's right, we've never been able to hide anything from each other for long without folding.

The bell rang a while later and the students started pouring into the halls.

The day went by faster than expected and we were already near the end of the day. I walked into Mr. Wright's class and made my way to my seat where Chase was already there scrolling on his phone.

I approached the desk and set my bag down, his eyes landing on me.

"Hi." I spoke up first.

"Hey." He voiced.

I smiled, and he watched me, waiting for me to continue.

"I really don't remember if I ever thanked you, in fact I actually don't remember much from that night at all." I confessed. "But anyways, thank you."

"It was no problem." He smiled.

I took my seat next to him, "If you ever need a favor, just ask."

"Noted." Was all he said before the lesson began.
